Simply AMAZING! Although their prices are a bit high, the flavor and options are well worth the price!

Wow….this place is hands down the best bakery on the island. The filling in the malasada is homemade and delicious. I have had Leonard’s in Honolulu and if I could combine the filling from Paradise with the warmth of Leonard’s then that would be perfection…

I arrived at the bakery at 7am and was overwhelmed with the amazing selection of donuts. I selected 4 donuts for my family of four. We quartered them and each tried a donut. They were all delicious! We highly recommend these donuts!

The doughnuts were very good but they are pricy. We tried a pineapple fritter, a chocolate donut with sprinkles, and their special that day- Ube Malasada. For context, for these three items it was $17.

The ube Malasada was delicious and we have no regrets, but $6.50 is pretty crazy for one small Malasada.

I hesitate to write this review but I’m forging on because I don't want to keep this secret to myself. They deserve to be world-renowned; not that I believe my review will provide those means. There have been many claims over the years of who on the island has the best malasadas. Hands down, Paradise Bakery holds the championship cup (if one were provided for Best Malasada, Island of Hawaii). They do not skimp! They do not cut corners! These sweet Portuguese puffs are made with love and filled with the highest quality ingredients. The raspberry malasada I enjoyed this morning, for my birthday, was filled with a raspberry demulcent that I can tell brings with it many good things for my 54th year. This was no raspberry filling like any before. Typically, you get some raspberry in a jelly-like concoction… no, no, no! Paradise Bakery will not be serving raspberry flavored gelatin to the masses. They will serve you a malasada that has just the right amount of sugar, not so much it's falling off, not so little that it’s not a true malsada. The pastry itself is the perfect mix of melt in your mouth and yet doughy enough to hold the luscious filling. This Malasada cannot compare! Perhaps you should try Malasadas on other parts of the island. Head to any bakery on island and have a good Malasada, it’s nice. However, when you’re ready to have your mind blown and your taste buds explode, go savor the amazingness that is a Paradise Bakery Malasada. The owners serve up their deliciousness with kindness, care, always a smile, and pleasantries. The bakery itself is in an open air food court near Target. You’ll see the donuts sign. Follow the delicious scent. Your tongue, your belly, and your heart will be happy!

The best donuts on this side of the island, hands down. Go early, as they sell out very fast. Can't pick our favorites, they are ALL delicious.

These donuts are incredible! They are huge and still so fluffy and delicious. Some of the best we've ever had! They have an awesome variety of flavors and are very reasonably priced.

Fantastic local bakery! Paradise Bakery in Kona is a gem. Their pastries are always fresh and delicious. The pistachio option is rich and nutty — a must-try. I also loved the plain version; sometimes simple is best to appreciate the quality of their dough. But the star for me was their special ube — vibrant, creamy, and packed with flavor. It’s not every day you find ube done this well. Friendly staff and great vibe. Will definitely be back next time I’m on the Big Island!

Disappointed at Paradise. Prior to our visit to the Big Island of Hawaii , I researched who had the best Malasadas on the Big Island. The Paradise Bakery in Kona consistently came up as one of the top three Bakery on the Island. They're in a good location a little ways from downtown , and have an attractive storefront with a very appealing case of delectable baked goods. Counter service was fairly quick and friendly. I purchased several coconut and Uber Malasadas and a pineapple macadamia fritter, within my ten minute drive back to our hotel, I noticed grease leaking through the box( I've added a photo ). The Malasadas and the fritter were so greasey you could actually ring the grease out of them ,like wringing water out of a towel. In hindsight , if you're looking for the best Malasadas on the Big Island , visit anyone of the KTA Super Store locations, they're Malasadas are fabulous !!

When I walked up, a small group of extremely excited people were all smiles and ooing and ahhing over the colorfully decorated donuts. I had fun snapping pics of all the photogenic confections in the case while I waited to place my order. The lovely woman who served me was as sweet as the desserts. I ordered a Boston Cream Pie donut and a slice of Lilikoi Cheesecake. Sadly, neither tasted as good as it looked. The donut was fresh but it was overwhelmingly sweet and lacked flavor. The cheesecake had the texture of the no-bake, instant variety and I couldn't taste the passionfruit at all. Not quite the experience I had hoped for...
