Wonderful sushi choices and presentation. Service was prompt and courteous.

The ramen was good overall, but the flavor was a little bland. The noodles were cooked well and the presentation was nice, but it could use a bit more seasoning or richness in the broth

The sushi/sashimi here is awesome!

Don't let the location fool you. A few yrs back this area was bustling, long-timers haven't forgotten.
We were a party of 5, our wait was about 10min on a midwk eve @ 7ish.
Great vibes as laughter & good aromas added to the comfortable atmosphere.

Sakura is our favorite restaurant when we visit Kona. Yes, it’s hidden away past Walmart. But when those shrimp come out, sizzling on the plate, we are in heaven. The sushi has always been fantastic, too!

Always a good place to sit and eat.

The best Japanese food we’ve had in a long time, nice relaxed local restaurant, reasonably priced, highly recommended!

I'm really picky about my sushi, and Sakura wasn't the highest rated place in Kona. Also read some of the really negative reviews. But, it was the only place open at 7pm on a Sunday night. So, I went.

Seated immediately, no wait. Table and restaurant were clean. Several small TVs on the upper walls. Waiter was a bit abrupt and hard to understand, but no different than other sushi places I've been over the years.

Normal wait time for food, maybe 15 minutes. Simple presentation, no frills. Got 12 pieces of nigri, a Super Volcano roll, and hot sake. Fish was fresh, all was fantastic by my standards. Saba and Ikura were especially great. The Volcano roll was amazing, one of the best I've had.

Finished up, got the check, and left. No frills, no issues. Total was $71, very similar to mainland sushi prices.

Lots of complaints about how Sakura staff handles large parties with kids. I'd leave if I walked into a sushi place and saw a table full of young kids. For many, sushi is a reverent experience, to be enjoyed with a certain atmosphere and silence. The $80 I pay for that experience includes expected atmosphere. It's not Chuck E Cheese. Get a babysitter or go someplace else, don't ding the restaurant. *Rant over*.

I'll definitely be back.

Love this place. The fish is fresh, fast and the service is above par even by mainland standards. I would highly recommend to tourist and definitely to locals looking for a regular spot.
