Came with my girlfriend for the omikasi with sake pairing. This spot is run by a power couple and features authentic Japanese flavors. Super fresh and flavorful. This is a reservation only spot with three table, so CALL ahead to reserve

You won’t be able to experience many places like this in the US (or all the Americas) so get a reservation and do it while you can. We went 2x omakase which had interesting multi-seaweed miso (best I’ve ever had), best tofu and tempura I’ve ever had, hand roll and two unbelievably good sushi platters…why isn’t raw ono more of a thing? Plus had a fun chat with lovely owners after

An unsuspecting hole in the wall. There are only 3 tables and reservations are required. The owners are your chef, host, and server.
We ordered the chirashi, soft shell crab roll, rainbow roll, and tempura udon. Wow - so fresh. The best tempura and udon soup ever. You need to get this. They even make their own Tongarishi from scratch, it’s amazing. The fish was so fresh and tasty. So worth it.

We had the omakasi. This choice came with so much food! It is the chef’s special. Small space that makes for a nice dinning experience. Only 3 tables. From the start to the finish, the food was excellent. The toro and nigiri stood out. The seared scallops were a pleasant surprise. There was a seared tofu that was excellent as well. Attentive service by the husband and wife team.

Amazing sushi! We had the omakase. Everything was delicious. I was amazed that ono and mackerel could taste so good. The cut roll was outstanding and had such a great mixture of flavors and textures. The price was also quite low relative to the quality of the food.
Just make sure to make a reservation ahead of time as they fill up.
Excellent Omakase meal. Personalized and fast service.

Reservations are Required at this little slice of Japan located in downtown Kona, and it is very well worth it (Ive been twice now). Run by a Husband-Wife team, this restaurant transported me back to my dining experiences in Japan (if you have seen my other reviews you know I've been to a lot of restaurants there). The food is wonderful, with excellent flavor and preparation. This place serves up the best eel I've ever had outside of Japan. The restaurant is quaint and in a very Japanese manner only has 4 tables. Seiji and Chie are kind, engaging, and showed me great hospitality on both of my visits there. I honestly can't wait to return to Kona so I can dine with them once again!

Tiny sushi restaurant with really only 3 tables, which fill up quickly. Reservations are required to eat here and they don’t really to to go orders.
Owned by the same couple for a very long time, they have a decent sized menu of sushi, donburi, tempura, shashimi, and a decent sake list. The tuna and salmon nigiri were some of the best I’ve ever had and the gentleman next to me,who ordered the dinner course, said everything he was served was fresh and lovely.
We will go back again if we can get reservations.
Parking near the restaurant was $15 per hour plus fees and came to $35 for 2 hours. Your reservation is good for 90min and a new diner or set of diners will be ready for your table at the 90 min mark.

Seiji has 40 years experience in the restaurant industry and it showed. We got the omakase and the sushi was fresh and just melts in your mouth. Best sushi in Kona—totally worth it!

Our favorite meal on the big island and perhaps one of my favorite meals ever!! This spot is reservation only, ask for the Omakase when you call for a reservation. My husband did the sake pairing which was a beautiful mix of filtered and unfiltered cold sakes. This place is for true sushi lovers who respect quality and locally sourced ingredients. You feel like Seiji and his wife Chie are preparing you a meal in the comfort of their home. Seiji is obviously a master of his craft and I enjoyed reading about his career and how he ended up on the big island. This place should have a Michelin star.

HIGHLY RECOMMEND!! Dinner at Seiji Sushi is an intimate dining experience where you get to talk to and get served from the Chef himself (chef and owner) and his lovely wife.
It was so nice to have the flexibility of ordering a bit at a time, not being rushed, and baking able to relax and enjoy our dinner.
We started with 3 kinds of sashimi (six pieces of each) … tuna (mix of regular and Toro), hamachi, ono (mix of and seared).
Then we moved on to the Tempura appetizer which was a combination of shrimp and vegetables.
The Edamame was the best we ever had with the special spices!
Moving on to the rolls … YUM!
Seiji Special Roll: this changes on a daily basis and today it was a spicy tuna on the inside with cucumber and on top layered with fresh tuna, avocado and roe.
Spider roll, which is a soft crab roll: When you have this the flavors, just keep going and going and going and going and going… Stop saver and enjoy!
We opted for one more roll, which was the Salmon Skin Roll and it was absolutely to die for. Chef’s Recommendation. We dug into it too quickly to take a picture, but snapped one a little bit later and it’s the last photo. Oh my God so happy we got this.
In all of the rolls, the sushi rice is done to perfection!
Usually we go broke on a sushi night but not here! The least expensive yet the best quality sushi we’ve ever had!!
Ultimate Kudos to these owners and establishment!!

Aside from being some of the best sushi I’ve ever had, the owners made it one of the best experiences I’ve had at a restaurant. They were very accommodating with my being celiac and made some things special for me and substituted other ingredients. I wish I could rate this more than 5 stars :)

Cool little sushi spot with fresh fish. I got the chirashi which was a Japanese portion size so make sure to get some tofu too!
