Shimaichi Sushi Kona

As someone who is a sushi snob this is the best sushi I have ever had. My husband and I adore this place. The service is amazing and the sushi is to die for. 10000% will be back.

Yummy teriyaki bowl and tempura. Our favorite sushi was the dragonfly roll was light and I liked the flavor. Tempura was perfectly battered and fried. Different veggies I’m not used to since they are local but good portion on the teriyaki chicken. Chicken was tender and moist and good teriyaki flavors. Small place a little run down seating, but worth a try. Waitress was very friendly, cordial and inviting. It is a bit sketchy not going to lie but our food overall was pretty good, and fantastic service! Parking might be a little tough if it was busy we were the only ones there during 4pm hour on a Tuesday.

Shiso Ichi roll was a scam. There is so little fish or rice that justifying even $17 for that is difficult. Considering freshness as a factor, almost every sushi or poke restaurant must uphold a certain degree of freshness. This restaurant is no different. The service was okay it took a while before they came over to us despite having little to no customers. The biggest factor for me was that the meal posted in total would run your pocket $62. The interior is simplistic it is fine but considering the price point I expected more. All in all, it was disappointing and I do not recommend eating there unless you don't care about high pricing for less.

My husband and I have lived in Kona for many years and often choose sushi when eating out. We wish we had found this place sooner! We had a fantastic meal here - we chose 3 different sushi rolls and each one was unique and very delicious. Our interaction with the servers and chefs, while brief, was very positive. They were attentive and informative and it was clear they made an effort to ensure we enjoyed our meal and time there. Will definitely be dining here again.

The sushi was great and the kanpachi sashimi was so fresh and delicious. Next time we would order different roles as we are not big on too many sauces on our sushi. They were good.

Food wasn’t great. It was ok, I was expecting more since Hawaii has fresh fish. it wasn’t too crowded and we had to wait the only one waitress to help us. She was a little overwhelmed. The food came fast, but I think it didn’t taste very fresh.

Very convenient. Excellent service. One girl alone works incredibly hard. She runs the whole time. Wish she had more help. Regardless she was excellent and super kind. Good was nice not overpriced and yes very tasty.
