The ambiance, location along the beach, the food and service were just outstanding! It was very impressive that the Anniversary wishes were extended by many of the staff during our visit.
We started with Miso king crab leg charred. avocado salad. The crab legs was enough for an entree and prepared to perfection. The avocado salad was a brilliant surprise. The dressing was so delicious and the kataifi was crispy and brought a perfect texture to the creamy avocado. Crab noodles with foie gras was so luxurious and satisfying. The kiawe smoked potatoes were amazing. Just the right amount of smoke and foie gras, well what can I say about foie gras except amazing. So hard to find so a special treat. We will be back!
I have been a long time Ulu fan. I have to say in our experience last night, these folks took it to a new level. Of course we expect the Four Seasons signature ambiance, service and an overall exceptional experience. I have to say the food this time went from very good to extraordinary. Every dish for all four of us came with many exclamations and proclamations: “oh my god this is so good”. I have always recommended Ulu to anyone who will listen. This morning one of our dinner mates called me and said “I can't stop thinking about that dinner”.
We had a beautiful waterfront setting. Cocktails were top-notch. High quality food and service. To top off our visit, we had a fire dancer do a great short performance. Beautiful sunset. Best meal of our stay on the island.
My daughter & I had dinner yesterday & our server was Michael. He was AMAZING! .. customer service was genuine & authentic. It felt like we were all an ‘ohana & he took such great care of my little girl, making sure she was enjoying the experience of it all from cooking her steak on a hot stone to serving her a “coffee” which was hot chocolate & whipped cream to end our dinner. The food (steak, fried rice, sushi, lava cake) was amazing & the beverages are top tier & I loved the oysters! I'm not even an oyster person. We will definitely be back & we highly recommend everyone to request Michael as their server! Mahalo nui ‘Ulu.
I always enjoy being able to dine at Ulu's. The food is outstanding but the wine list let's me know that I'm not a high roller.
We always look forward to dining at Ulu, and this visit was no exception. While our preferred server, Lili, was unavailable at first, Michael took excellent care of us. He was professional, knowledgeable, and made our experience seamless. We started with oysters served with their incredible house-made hot sauce, which was truly a highlight—and we loved that it came bottled so we could take some home. Along with the oysters, we enjoyed a hamachi sushi roll, pork belly bao buns, kanpachi crudo, and toro tartare. Each dish was beautifully presented, full of flavor, and accompanied by a well-delivered explanation. For entrées, we had the Mahi Mahi and the New York steak, both cooked perfectly and absolutely delicious. To finish, we shared one coffee soufflé and one chocolate soufflé, the perfect sweet ending to an outstanding meal. Michael's attentiveness made us feel well taken care of, and we were delighted when Lili stopped by later in the evening. She always makes our visits extra special and even remembered our preference for enjoying a French press before leaving. Thank you again, Ulu, for consistently providing an exceptional dining experience. We will definitely be back!
Yes, I spent a lot of time on the big island and this is by far the best restaurant I have been to on the big island
Service was phenomenal, atmosphere was spectacular, and food was incredible!! Our server Landon was amazing and actually from Hostesses to everyone we came into contact with were perfect!! By far one of our favs and will most definitely be returning!!!
Go for the vibes, stay for the vibes. We ordered the otoro tartare, charred avocado salad, crab noodles, and chocolate soufflé. The food was alright. The views were great. Service was ok. The otoro tartare was fishy. I almost sent this back but no one really checked in with us so we ended up just picking at it out of boredom.. I enjoyed the charred avocado salad the most but it had too much dressing pooled on the bottom. The crab noodles were alright. The soufflé was alright. Service was good, not excellent. Everyone was friendly

Excellent food, and for as high quality as it was, the service was warm and friendly, not stuffy at all. A memorable place, for the food, service, views and overall ambience.
Decent and tasty quality of food served in restaurant. Great ambiente, location almost on the beach of ocean. A bit slow service.
Ambience was incredible. Food was mostly underwhelming, sushi rolls stood out. Service was very friendly but unfortunately very slow, ordered mainly small plates and the wait between dishes was 20-30 min plus. Waters were empty for the later half of our meal.
We love Ulu, will continue to make reservations there. I think they put a lot of effort into what they do from service, food, drinks, ambiance. Every little detail Seems to be given a lot of time and attention. I am not in restaurant business, but can see they are working very hard to make ULu a wonderful experience. Thank You for what you do. It takes a lot of people to make it work and it is working well.
Wow - ulu grill never misses. Another amazing meal and setting. We have always debated between the canoe house and ulu grill as to which is our favorite. On this trip Ulu beat Canoe House for service and food. Both have an amazing location for sunset.
