Lovely setting open to fresh air with nice view of large courtyard and garden. Friendly attentive service. One patron at table next to ours got loud for awhile, otherwise quiet and relaxing. Fish ( ono and mixed grill. We're excellent, nice chowder came with. Nice reasonably priced wines. Overall a bit expensive but not out of range for Hawaii.

Went to hukilau for 37th wedding anniversary. Oct 15. Was dying for prime rib. Didn’t care about price I wanted Prime rib so so bad. All we get here on Kauai is choice. There is no fat in the meat no marbling and you can’t cut it with a fork. You have to slice every bite. That is choice. And if you’re good with that. Then the rib is great. It was cooked perfectly. But I wanted the prime rib.
Prime has fat all thru it and so tender the meat falls apart. Little pieces of fat around the edges and you can see the marbling in the center.
I actually asked the waitress what was on my plate (which I have never ever done before) and she said it was prime she even went to the chef to check. He too said it was prime. I have cooked a lot of prime rib in my lifetime so I feel like I know what talking about but I felt like I was being blown off like an unknowing tourist. All I know is that my meat did not look anything like what is in the photo of their prime rib on the website with photos of their menu. Love this place otherwise. Been going there for 30 years. Incredibly nice waithelp and an incredible view for a romantic evening.

Gazpacho was incredible, as were all of the other soups, and the pastry on the Swiss chard tart was perfection.

Hukilau Lanai was the first place we had dinner after landing, and it ended up being the highlight of our trip food-wise. The food was absolutely delicious — everything was fresh and full of flavor. The service was excellent, and the staff made us feel so welcome. On top of that, the view was amazing. Couldn’t have asked for a better start to our vacation. Highly recommend!

I rated the atmosphere as low because they have the absolute worst chairs on the entire island! They have no lower back support and seem to have been made for kindergarten children . We have been going there intermittently over 29 years and the chairs haven't changed! The food is good if you can tolerate eating in discomfort . If only they could splurge and finally invest in new dining chairs.

We have been having dinner here for 12 years and have always had delicious food, which is enhanced by the incredible service. This time our server as Brianna and she was fantastic. I loved her personality, she diffused a difficult person, made us laugh and offered great service. In the past 12 years I always ordered the lobster bisque and Wally's salad in honor of a friend (which are so delicious), but tonight I had the Wally's Steak Crown Royal and it was fantastic. Others ordered the fish and were very happy with their meals. We make sure we come here several times a year because the food and service are always perfect.

The absolute best meal we had on Kaua’i and maybe ever! Do yourself a favor and get a reservation to eat here, you won’t be disappointed. My husband had the fish trio which he thoroughly enjoyed and I had the filet mignon and oh my it was the best! I’m gluten free and they even special baked gluten free bread that was served hot out of the oven. I asked for butter with the bread and it was heavenly! Paul provided excellent service, we never had to look for refills, he was on top of it. My husband had the caramel tart for dessert and he said it was so so good! Just go!

After not being able to secure a reservation online we tried our luck as a walk in & were seated right away. Our server Paul & the entire staff were so attentive. I still haven't gotten over the sweet potato ravioli...it might be top 5 for best food of all time for me!! My husband had the ahi entrée & felt the same. Truly spectacular meal, service, & beautiful restaurant.

We had a very nice dinner here. My wife and I both had fish entrees, which can vary based on what is available any given day. Mine had a coconut cream sauce which was quote good. My wife's fish had a tomato sauce base which wasn't as good. We split the coconut cheesecake for dessert. Live music starting at 5:30 on the night we were there (a Wednesday night).
