The nigiri was delicious. Also the best Unagi I've ever had! Would definitely recommend it if you're visiting Maui and want to eat some great sushi. The service and atmosphere were also excellent.

BEST SUSHI ON MAUI ? not only is the place super cute (tons of snoopys everywhere and beach decor!) it’s just one couple that do everything themselves! and the food is AMAZING. super soft rice and fish, and super flavorful! not even super expensive! i got two rolls and the total was $40 including tip :) i think it’s the best food i’ve had here in my two week stay ?

I’ve eaten sushi most of in my life, having grown up in the Vancouver area, and this is likely the best sushi I’ve yet had. My husband and I ordered the miso soup, spicy salmon roll, tako wasabi, and salmon nigiri. I can’t say enough about how fresh everything tasted. The salmon was beyond words, it was truly special. Better than any salmon-based sushi dish I’ve ever had. The wasabi was authentic, fresh, well balanced. The couple running the restaurant are so sweet, courteous and professional. They attend to their art and profession with love. I also really enjoyed the bright and peaceful beach vibes decor. All my best to your business and to your family!

Truly one of the coolest spots in Maui. Having lived in Japan, this place was really like my good old days on the island of Okinawa. The couple who runs the joint, well, they’re the sweetest most gentle souls. The food was amazing, well thought out and prepared. The ambiance was heart warming and their service, immaculate. You have to check this place out if you’re in Kihei.

One of the best sushi experiences in Maui. While the location and decor isn’t the fanciest the sushi does not disappoint. I had many pieces of high quality fish that tasted very fresh and reminded me of something I would get at a very upscale sushi restaurant. I really liked how real wasabi was used and I also loved the tuna salad. If you are coming to Maui and want to experience good sushi I would recommend coming here.

My husband and I came here for dinner while in Maui. This was the best sushi we have ever had and the best meal we had while in Maui or Oahu. We get sushi everywhere we travel and have never had such fresh, delicious sushi in our lives. We got amazing apps, sushi rolls and sashimi. It was the cutest, most quaint little restaurant. The atmosphere and ambiance were on point- very laid back and home-y. It is run by the sweetest couple, all made right there. We wish we could go back everyday!! 11/10 highly recommend this place. Best spot on Maui.
We tried this place tonight! Service was very sweet albeit very slow as there is only one server, who was very kind, for all the tables. Atmosphere was so fun as the inside has a great vibe. Inflation has caused lots of things to go up, so I expect all restaurants to be more expensive however I felt like the fish quality didn’t match the price tag. I also had a water glass with a piece of green onion and it took a long time for her to come back so I could tell her. I would recommend this place only for the great atmosphere but not for the sushi, and if you try this place, just expect higher prices on the menu than what is posted here in pictures so you avoid some sticker shock.

Hands down best Sushi on Maui! Wonderful authentic Japanese cuisine, atmosphere is very comfortable and intimate. Owners (Japanese and sushi chef!) are very passionate and ensure the experience is top notch. Perfect for dates, casual dining and even has a sushi bar if you’re eating solo. Highly recommended!

The staff, hostess, and sushi chef made my birthday dinner super special! Our meal started with warm aloha greetings as we entered, a beautifully decorated area at the sushi bar followed by excellent sushi, sake and service!! Everything we ate, we oohed and ahhed over! We had Oysters, Yellow tail carpaccio, Toro, Tuna, Hamachi, Uni, Amaebi, Miso Butterfish, Kikumasa Taru, Monkfish liver. 1054 Togoshi will definitely stay on my list of favorite restaurants to return to the next time I'm in Maui! Thank you, 1054 Togoshi, for a fantastic birthday dinner! Special shout out to Rene, our server. Super attentive, knowledgeable AND entertaining. :)

Went here for a quick bite to eat this evening. The couple who own this place are the only employees which gives it a nice personal feel. Both were very friendly and sweet. From reading the other reviews it sounds like the guy isn’t the most friendly person at times. But we took interest in his place and he was very sweet. Sometimes people are just shy or not confident with a language barrier. As for the food, it was fresh and delicious. I especially enjoyed the takowasabi as it was fresh and had flavours that were different from other places. A refreshing change. The rest of the food was also delicious. I would highly recommend this sweet ma and pa restaurant.
