It's our favorite Mexican restaurant in Kihei. You can't beat the view. The staff is friendly and efficient. It's not at all a fancy place; think very casual place where flip flop and shorts are welcome....but the food is good and the margaritas are great! It's the first place we visit when we arrive and a regular stop while we are on Maui.

Fred's is an authentic Mexican restaurant. The food is very fresh and the seasonings are excellent. Our service was exceptional.

Service very fast on a not very busy day. Portions generous. Served hot , or warm when appropriate, and with excellent taste. Needed extra take-home box for the leftover nachos and extra large burrito . Would definitely go back.

Solid chips and queso, delicious margs, happy hour is fantastic! Brett is an awesome bar tender! We’ve been to Fred’s everyday for happy hour since arriving in Maui and it’s become the perfect vacation watering hole.

The $5.50 happy hour margaritas got us in the door, but I would go out of my way to come back just for Brett. Definitely worth the visit!

We had dinner here on our last night out before returning to the mainland. Everything was great! We had fish tacos and steak enchiladas. The house margarita was just right. Good beer selection. Chips and salsa were tasty and disappeared fast! Our server was delightful and fun to talk to. Mexican food in Hawai'i? It works for me! Parking can be limited. We were walk-ins and had a lovely stroll on Kam II watching the sunset while waiting for a table.

Perfect spot and top-notch Mexican food. Fred's did not disappoint. You can 100% trust a place that also has successful locations in Huntington Beach and San Diego.

We had the Chile Verde, Cajun shrimp tacos, and kalua pork tacos, plus the house margarita (blended and rocks).

Food was trash during breakfast. Ordered a steak, they didn’t get the cook right and gave me a raw steak. It feels like they just threw it in the grill for ten seconds on each side and put it on the plate. Not to mention there’s literally no seasoning on it. It’s just lazy cooking

Came for the fun vibes and the beach. Few places can beat the view. After a tiring 1 hour long bus ride, we reached Kihei. It was definitely worth it.

The decor was an explosion of color and vintage objects. So fun. There was something to look at in every corner.

Turns out it was Taco Tuesday. Got to try the kalua pig. Best one I’ve tried, even better than the one at a luau. Had no idea the tacos were so loaded they barely closed 🤯. All the vegetables were cut up evenly. The pork pieces were bite sized, tender with texture, and had a roasty savouriness. The complimentary basket of chips and salsa was good. Chips stayed crispy the whole time. Generous amount of sauce in the bowl too.

To the folk who say the food is bland, do you not see the condiments on the table? 🧂 🌶️ Salt, pepper, ketchup, hot sauce. Mexican food doesn’t need a complex flavor. That hot sauce has a very sharp bite when it hits the tongue.

Watched the sunset on the return bus trip. It was quite serendipitous timing as the bus only comes by once per hour. 🌅 This area, its views, and its shops are worth the visit.

Only downer was not getting to meet the vip, Bagheera. So I left something in his honor, so he can continue to exist. 🐈‍⬛ 🤗

Will make it a point to visit Fred’s on my next trip. Can’t wait to try more of the food. 😋

Terribly overpriced for what it is. The service was alright, but the food is mediocre at best. Very bland and tasteless. For 20$ an entree you’d expect more. Not authentic Mexican food. Way better places to eat in Maui.

I've eaten there several times over the years. It's always been pretty good. It was close to the apartment.

Came for dinner on taco Tuesday and enjoyed the variety of tacos. Cajon shrimp and kalua pork were my favorites. Chips and salsa were good and service was friendly as we had a large group (12). Sat by the deck and had a great view of the ocean and a nice breeze.
