Passed on the restaurant earlier in the week once I noticed it was located as part of a golf course. Came back to it later and was so happy that we did. Seating, food and service were all excellent. Definitely will visit again the next time we're in Maui!
So great to have an excellent restaurant in this stunning location once again. Very creative cuisine. Who would think of serving mushroom au jus with a French onion grilled cheese sandwich? Really elevated the dish.
We were very disappointed not to get outside seating since I requested it when I made our reservation and we are frequent customers. Our server was great & food good as always— just disappointing to have to compromise on seating.
Food is always delicious, cocktails on point, and service is always amazing. It's a little pricey, but you're on a golf course in Maui...so...you should probably expect that.
Having been here before, this experience was extremely disappointing. View is spectacular, and Jacob, our server, was excellent! However, the food was horrible! The fish tacos were very “fishy” tasting, and the ribs were tasty, but lukewarm. French fries were not hot, almost like they'd been sitting around. Will not rush back here next time I'm in Maui unless something seriously changes!!!
Our server, Mathew, did his best and; hence, was tipped generously. Other that, our bartender was inattentive, snippy and was preoccupied with non-customer minutia. Not only was the ahi tuna main course sold out way early, the same occurred for the table behind us...even though their system indicated otherwise. The clincher was the overpowering reverberation noise level of the gigantic wedding party right below our table, which annoyed both us and other diners. When we were finally ask if we wanted to relocate, after cocktails and an appetizer, I refused as the wedding reception clamor could be heard clearly throughout your facility. Back in Bev Gannon's days, she usually closed public dining that day for large private parties. Needless to say, after reserving a quiet outdoor table, which we obviously didn't get, and all the above-mentioned issues, we requested a manager, who never showed up to air our grievances but Mathew did say he "comped" our appetizer. Honestly, we weren't looking for that gesture and promptly left without dinner. If it were my restaurant, I would have comped the entire evening's purchases and invited us back the following evening for a better experience. Obviously, we would have been more than willing to pay that tab. In closing, the Gather Group did a fine job transitioning Halemaile and a lousy job with Gannon's. As a side note, we've been vacationing on Maui for 20+ years, but won't be back to Gather/Wailea, or recommending anyone!
We each got the two different catch of the day meals and they were amazing. The restaurant was quiet, the service was great and the only negative thing I can say is that we were seated behind a large pillar that inhibited our view of the sunset
Wonderful food and our server, Jacob, was excellent. A very enjoyable evening we'd go back.
So disappointed with Gather. We were here 6 years ago for our anniversary and came back for another celebration, but it's just not the same. We miss Bev Gannon's touch on service and attention. Our server was great but the food was so so and overall experience wasn't up to par.
The food was excellent and atmosphere magical. The service was meh. It was a special occasion and I asked them to make it special. However, even after sending them a note and reminding the staff when we checked in, nothing was done.
Restaurantji Recommends
Great evening. Staff was accomodating and friendly. Food was definitely made with care and at a high level of quality. The view was beautiful. It's somewhat casual but that is to be totally expected as it's at the golf course. Would recommend, and return.
Outstanding overall experience. The ambiance and views are second-to-none. Additionally, the food and drink were all fantastic. All the fish dishes were prepared extremely well and the pineapple upside down cake was fantastic. Waitress also helpful, polite, nice, etc. Great experience.
Food, drinks, and service were amazing! And the best part was that we had a reservation right at sunset and got a perfect table on the terrace overlooking the ocean. Breathtaking! It was a great way to spend a birthday. Highly recommend!
This restaurant used to be amazing when Beverly Gannon owned it. We would love to go. Unfortunately going now I would say it is one of the worst. The staff was inattentive and not knowledgeable of any of the food on the menu. We asked about a dish and she could not describe anything about it. The appetizers were decent but the entrees were almost inedible. No flavor. In fact we took one bite and pushed the meal aside. Will I go back for dinner? No. Do I recommend? No. I've heard happy hour is good but cannot attest to that and honestly don't want to waste my money on it.
Serene, relaxed, best service I've ever had, good quality also the best I've ever had. Thank you
