Been going to Huli Huli Chicken for many years back in the days when they were up by the Green Church on N Kihei Rd, we always looked forward to this treat. Since they moved to S Kihei Rd, their prices have risen steadily and the Chickens have become smaller, definitely not worth the $21 they are now charging.

Meh only so so. I’d skip it. We were in Maui 14 years ago and came across a roadside Huli place in Kihei that was awesome. We sought this place out because we thought it was the same place but were disappointed. Ribs were okay but chicken was dry.

Food was less than hopped for. I had Huli Huli cooked chicken on the north shore of Oahu (not Mikes,which was sub par in my opinion) and found the chicken plump, juicy and seasoned well. The chicken here is no better than the ready cooked whole bodies available at Times or Safeway. I wish I had opted for the later. The ribs that came with my combo were as the chicken, dry, under seasoned and short on edible meat. The sides were an after thought, consisting of rice(best part of the meal) and canned corn(lazy effort). The staff were kind and friendly. I went, I tried, never to return. There are numerous food trucks owned and staffed by hard working and creative people who put energy and effort into their fare. Why support complacency? Thanks for reading.

Well the food pretty much sucks. They have all these to go containers stacked up with two scoops of rice and canned corn in them. Like how hard is it to serve fresh. Not that we ate it, really canned corn and white plain rice, no sauce like in the pictures. We got the combo plate and the ribs were chewy, no flavor. The chicken wasn’t too bad, but again, no seasoning at all. We ate some of it cause we were starving, but actually the best part was the canned soda that we had. We threw the rest of the food in the trash. Too much hype, not worth the effort or the $20 we pretty much threw away. I’ve had huli huli chicken before, on the North Shore of Oahu, now that was AWESOME huli chicken. Don’t waste your time or money folks. Don’t say that you weren’t warned.

This was a recommendation by one of the valets at the Andaz and it did not disappoint. We got the ribs and the chicken and they were delicious! It was neat to see them cooking over the fire and shop at the market there. It cost $20 but was enough for me and my wife. There were several locals in line on front of me.
Dietary restrictions: My wife cannot have gluten, dairy or soy and she was able to eat here.
