Very disappointing meal in all respects.

Service was rushed and chaotic. One of the staff who brought my starter to the table was corrected by the lead server, and he mumbled a sarcastic response back under his breath but loud enough for me to hear. Awkward.

I ordered the toro tartare and surf and turf. The toro was 2 oz at best and came with a couple of dollops of wasabi and ponzu sauce with a tiny amount of caviar. Flavors were very ordinary and at $32, extremely overpriced imo.

The surf and turf was pretty but the lobster was almost unrecognizable in its batter and sauce, the vegetables weren’t seasoned at all and very undercooked. The steak was good.

At this price point, and it is a VERY high point, this should have been way better.

Great Japanese restaurant from renowned chef right at the Wailea at the spectacular Andaz. The restaurant offers great beach views. We were there for lunch and tried the Passion pau Hāna cocktail which was really nice and the duck fried rice along with the Tai- red snapper sashimi roll which was really fresh! I was hoping to try the Thai curry snapper at this location but this wasn’t available here. Overall highly recommend over similar seafood options in neighboring hotels around the wailea beach.

The restaurant is definitely due for a deep cleaning and face lift. It looks dirty and old. Menues are falling apart, dirty floor, dirty bathroom, cheap outdoor metal chairs. Food was decent. Service was professional. Not sure what I expected, but felt disappointed all around.

Got off to a rough start. We believed that we had an outside table reserved. However, we were seated in a restricted view corner table inside. We went back to the check in had a direct conversation with the hostess and her helper. Both were professional but, I sensed, less than honest. The five star rating came from the waiter, Mikey, moving us outside to one of his tables. Service, atmosphere and food were all A+.

Attitude from the hostess from the start and her trying to sit us at a high top table next to the bar when I had asked for a special table for our anniversary set the tone for the night. We had to go out and wait to then be seated next to the bar where we then waited 45 mins with only water. When the Maui roll arrived it was delicious but had cold onion rings so it must have sat for most of the 45 minute wait. The manager came over and asked how it was going and we told him - he said he’d give us a free dessert but seemed more offended than apologetic. The sea bass appeared to be poached - it was slimy and fishy - after only one bite they removed it from the bill. The 16oz Australian wagyu steak was rare, but they provide a stone to cook it to your desired level. I’ve had many Wagyu steaks and this didn’t have the juiciness or marbeling I’ve come to expect. Also, it had a very strong gamey taste - I only ate half. They provided a free ube basque cheesecake dessert, but it was warm and seemed like it was sitting out for a long time - I think they prepared it right after the manager offered it at the start of our meal. We really wanted to end on a good note but it just wasn’t meant to be. Overall I felt the waiter tried to salvage the situation but this meal was NOT worth $250. Given all the other fabulous dining experiences available in Wailea I’d never return here again.

Was really looking forward to this meal. Have been to the NYC locale and it was amazing. This was a truly disappointing experience. Did the omakase with a wine paring. Fishy poor quality fish, overcooked wagyu, tasteless scallops and the wine pairing was awful. This was clearly a list meant to appeal to the resort crowd and didn’t compliment the food at all. Our waitress tried and was nice the only compliment to the meal.

I had the pleasure of dining at Morimoto Maui for their monthly special event debut and I must say, it was an unforgettable experience! From the moment we walked in, the warm and inviting atmosphere and staff made us feel the aloha.

But the real star of the show was the food – oh, the glorious food! We enjoyed a 6-course, sake paired menu. Each dish was expertly prepared and exquisitely and beautifully presented. The sushi was fresh and melt-in-your-mouth, the soft-shell crab tempura was crispy perfection and the pork belly, rainbow carrot puree was rich and savoury without being heavy.

The service was top-notch too – from Chef to our sake experts, Michael and Sean who were personable, attentive, knowledgeable, and made great recommendations. The price was very reasonable, especially considering the generous portion sizes.

Overall, I highly recommend Morimoto Maui to anyone craving authentic, delicious Japanese cuisine. I can't wait to go back and try more of their amazing dishes!"

Nothing we ordered was notable, and a few things were downright bad. The cocktails were too heavily iced and watered down. The tempura battered soft shell crab was mushy. The raw fish was fine, but not high quality. Worst of all though, the sushi rice used in their sushi preparations was very stale and unappetizing. I eat a lot of good sushi living in Seattle, but this was the worst sushi I’ve had in a long time. The service, while friendly, was not as professional as the price point demands. Lastly, the setting isn’t even very nice; their outdoor seating is mere feet away from the hotel swimming pool, and there isn’t a very good sunset or beach view. The whole dinner felt like a waste of a night out that would have been better spent at one of the restaurants at our hotel (Four Seasons).

Our favorite meal we had in Maui. The chirashi bowl was the best I've ever had and I've spent some substantial time in Japan. I highly recommend it!

Honestly the view and sunset were the best part. Bonus bc we picked dinner on night of luau. So be sure to check the luau schedule! Food, drinks and service were all about 7/10. Nothing to rave about except for the mushroom side dish. That is the best thing we ordered and still dreaming about.

Great food and great views. We enjoyed eating at the oceanfront bar instead of the dining room. Loved the tuna and hamachi tacos and Maui sushi roll. The maladadas (similar to beignets but even better) were phenomenal.

Wheelchair accessibility: From the front entrance of the Andaz resort, you can wind down the steep resort through an elevator and then a paved winding outdoor path through lovely trees and flowers. It can be hard to find the path and then get to Morimoto’s outdoor entrance, so ask an Andaz staff member for directions.
