My friends always enjoy coming here and talking about the quality of the fish and it being one of their favorite hole-in-the-wall places to recommend for their visiting friends. I remember trying the Matcha ice cream they had that they always would get after their meal, and I remember it being pretty high quality- Miguel Morales Photography
First time dining and the food was outstanding! Small restaurant with very few tables allows for a relaxed, almost private dining experience unlike the crowded, noisy alternatives found elsewhere.I was initially reluctant to preorder my menu choices with a requested reservation online, but did so upon being reassured by our friends. We arrived 5 minutes before our reservation time and were promptly seated. Our first entree of the most delicious, fresh sushi was brought to the table moments later. Obviously, the chef had been preparing it prior to our arrival. We spent nearly 2 hours enjoying the wonderful food and the company of our friends.I wholeheartedly recommend this restaurant if you are willing to make dinner plans in advance.

My wife and I made reservations for 5:30 on 6/6 /23 because weLove sushi sashimi. And when we arrived, although the place was virtually empty the hostess...a term I will use loosley...told us that we could not come in because we also had to order before arrival.So...If you want to go to a restaurant that makes you pre order before you have ever stepped through thier door, this is the place for youI have never been so disrespectedby the Japanese culture in my life.

Good sushi, a little dated, I guess we were expecting something more special. Very good quality but not as good on a whole as other places we've been on the mainland or in HI. Respect to the old school chef but even the best need to modernize a little as time goes

The best sushi I have ever eaten! Tasty, fresh and authentic cuisine! I would recommend you dine in and order combo set. This restaurant is small serving only 5 tables, so you should make a call around 5pm to make a reservation!
AMAZING FOOD and service! Made a reservation is advance (restaurant is small), and pre-ordered the items we wanted. My boyfriend is Japanese and he was very impressed. My favourite items here were the beet/scallop dish, spicy salmon roll, CHAWANMUSHIIII ?, and lilikoi ice cream. Will definitely be back the next time I’m in Maui!
Definitely a hidden gem for sushi at this literal mom and pop run sushi place they operated for 27+ years! Straight from Japan, just some sushi chef and his wife came to hawaii just looking to capitalize on the lack of Japanese cuisine on Maui! They focused on cool and unusual rolls and offered tempura and udon which apparently doesnt exist on any other resturant in the island (reading lips here ..). While service can be slow with the only waiter handling payments , serving water and also delivering the food can be a challenge. But they wouldn't hire any other people except for help on weekends. And when the food does arrive, its probably one of the better sushis ive ever had! The eel rolls had alot of flavor and texture to them! Plus the breading on the tempura is just right! The server was also really nice to point out other restaurants to support in addition to their restaurant as well which was really nice of them! We'll definitely try the other restaurant they recommend and also want to support because local businesses like these need any shout-outs they can get!
It's not always easy to get a reservation and you need to have some patience, but the result is more than worth it! We always make a point to eat here when we visit and ate here twice during our most recent visit in May. Fresh, fresh, fresh!
We were so excited to try this place. The first night we tried we were told we need advance reservations that include letting them know what we want to eat ahead of time. We called the next day and after being hung up on several times we finally got a reservation and told them what we wanted to eat.We were early when we arrived since the only reservation available to us was at 8:30pm. Even though the restaurant was empty except for one party they would not seat us. We left and 30 minutes later they said they could seat us. When we arrived we had to show our vaccination cards and ID to go inside. Afterwards we tried to enter but were told we also need to put on masks even though the restaurant was empty and our table was a few feet away.We asked if it's mandatory to wear a mask and the hostesses told us that if we don't want to follow their policy we are free to leave. It killed our excitement so we left and had a great night elsewhere. We didn't expect the hostess to be so impolite. They should treat their customers better.
