I don't think I've ever left a 1 star review of any restaurant, but there's a first time for everything.I guess I'll start at the very beginning, ordering. I went to the website and looked at the menu. I chose 3 ala cart items: a bean burrito, an al pastor burrito, and flauta carnitas. According to the online menu (from THEIR website) it should've come out to around $35 dollars, but to my surprise it came out to $45 plus tax.So onto the food. We were expecting a completely different product. We'd hoped for the type of burrito that comes wrapped in parchment and foil, the kind you can pick up and eat with your hands. (See photos for what we actually got) To be sure we were disappointed, but if the food is as good as the reviews say it would be a total loss ... if only.Food quality was abysmal.I started by trying to extract the flauta from the guacamole by eating the guacamole. It was a challenge.Apparently, they're real big on salt here. I've never had salty guac, in fact I'm not sure I've eaten anything this salty that didn't come out of a plastic bag - with a touch of vinegar it've been on par with some Kettle Chips flavors (with a little less salt it'd be similar in flavor to soggy fried with extra salt)So, eventually, I got to the actual flauta. Not crispy, not seasoned (except salt), and just meh.awful, but the flavor profile of baby food has more depth. The al pastor was no better, flavor wise, and the tortilla was like leather. The plastic fork (part of the $1.50 per plate to go fee) just didn't cut it (no pun intended), so as much as could be stomached, eaten like slop.Again, this food had no flavor. The lettuce had a little lemon, which was nice, but no cilantro - no fresh onion or green onion - no chilies - just salt. The bean burrito didn't get touched. The portions were huge, which was nice, but a ton of food that isn't great isn't an incentive.Dietary restrictions: If you're limiting sodium don't eat here.

I'm Mexican 2nd generation family is from Chihuahua. This is not good comida Mexicana. There is no such thing as Burrito sauce. The tortillas de maiz were store bought and probably microwaved. No fresh ingredients. That's a real shame our food is rich in history and family. Por favor hace comida auténtica con sabor y con corazón.

Food was great, gotta love fresh tortilla chips. It was a bit loud, but all the locals seemed fine with it.

Ordered chili relleno. I asked if the chili was small she says it was big. I had to find it in this thick soggy pile of batter. Bummed me out. A hundred bucks including the tip for two adults and a child. Bummer. Waitress acted like whatever. It’s all good. No wonder I usually cook at home.

We'd been hearing about how good Luquins was for a couple of years and being in Pahoa around lunch time one day we decided to stop in. It took us a while to find- no sign but once in we were seated and the service was prompt and friendly. Sadly, I wasn't impressed with the food. It was bland, boring and mostly without any of the wonderful subtle flavors of good Mexican food. I know it's hard to find really good restaurant food on the East side but I don't think Luquins is worth a second try.

I don't know why these bad reviews even exist! This place was great! Busy, yes, we had to wait about ten/fifteen minutes for a table, but that really speaks to how good it is. The fajitas were delicious and have such good proportions especially for the price. The prices can't be beat (especially for the area) and the waitress was nice. Such a fun environment and everyone was easy going and friendly throughout!

We had combination plates with enchiladas, tacos and chile relleno. Excellent meal, and service. Loved the local vibe! Great prices too!

A MUST HAVE in Pahoa! Ferlin, Nikki and Lauren provided exceptional service. The food was so good that we went back 3 out of 5 days during our stay.

Not sure why this place is rated what it is. It's average at best.I read the menu and saw the burrito is covered in red sauce. Wouldn't that be an enchilada or something? I decided to give it a try anyway.I do not like the red sauce and don't like that lettuce, sour cream, and guacamole is on the side and not inside. I want a burrito, something I can hold in my hand.. not something I eat with a utensil. The burrito was fine, but average at best.Tortilla chips were fine. Not much to say there. Salsa isn't good, though. Tasted a little odd and I didn't like it. I didn't know the meal came with it, I'd prefer to save $2 and just get the burrito.
