The best noodles in Honolulu ever. The broth was light but at the same time super delicious. It was not complex and just dreamy. I was craving for more after eating this. Aside from the highlight, the runner up dishes that I tried included the beef stick, small but mighty beef on a stick. The musubi was also very good, perfect size. Overall, service was speedy, humorous, and nice. The waiter we had was just hilarious and welcoming. This place is literally in the middle of nowhere, but this isn't your creepy restaurant, this is a cozy, sanctuary for your noodle cravings . Coming back on my next voyage to Honolulu.

Where do I start? I discovered this place in 2017. Been coming to Oahu almost every two years, and I always make it a point to go to Shige's at least 3 times during my 7-day visit. Saimin is delicious and unassuming. Very authentic. But let's talk about the bbq cheeseburger. Hands down the best bbq cheeseburger on the planet. Very friendly staff too. I can't wait to be back in 2 days before flying out of the island.

Shige's food is good but sometimes reminds me of cafeteria food. The saimin is AMAZING. The restaurant is clean and service is fast.

We drove all the way here from the other side of the island to find out that they had changed their business hours without updating them in Google Maps. The burgers here may be good, but the management sucks.

Still one of my favorite saimin and cheeseburger joints! Everything is great here. There's just something about having a cheeseburger with a saimin. The patties are secret...can't duplicate it. I would say it has an umami flavor to it. You would just have to eat one to have it all make sense. The saimin broth and noodles are perfect. The spam with the egg are the norm for saimin toppings. The ambiance is still old town Wahiawā which I love. The service is super fast and very very very polite to tip well people. Love this place!

Brother and I have wanted to come here for some time (like several other places in Wahiawa) and decided this morning was going to be the day! We came early since this is our first time and don't know the layout of the parking lot or the inside of the diner, so we chose to do the early brunch time of about 10:25 am when we got there. Going down the one-way driveway with diagonal parking on the left and parallel parking on the right, the pathway is not spacious for larger vehicles but luckily we found a few spots near the back end of the strip mall where Shige's Saimin Stand is located! There are two doors: on the left for the dine-in (where we will go through) and the right (which is where you pick up orders/make orders). Inside for the first time and see the sign in sheet on the table just to the right of the entryway, but there was a sign that says to 'wait to be seated'. Saw that the place was about one-third filled with customers already eating or waiting on their orders and the several of the waitresses caught our attention and told us we could sit anywhere we wanted to. We chose to sit at a two-seat table which was just to the right of the entryway and just back of the sign-in table. No fancy interior --- just plain jane yellow walls, basic laminated square tables and some mismatched chairs though the diner. Your basically 'old school type inexpensive diner'. We were promptly greeted and our glasses of free iced water given. There was no menu provided as the menu board was prominently displayed on the wall in the room we were in and on the other side of the diner (left of the entry) that had the four tables. I really wanted to taste more than I thought I could eat only because other Yelpers said this or that was good! If I had my choice, I would have chosen (yup, this long list): mac salad, bbq sticks, fried noodles, large bowl of saimin and double bbq cheeseburger deluxe (the sandwich which local food forum extraordinaire, Ramfis Benigno) keeps talking about! Alas, my stomach would be blown out and I think I'd be having a gastric problem and not be able to stand up after eating all of that, so instead I chose: (2) bbq sticks, small saimin and the bbq cheeseburger deluxe burger. After less than ten minutes of waiting, our order started arriving. Yelp photo time ! LOL! The presentation of the foods looked enticing and we guess because we ordered the burgers, they automatically provided us with cutting knives. Couldn't believe my brother didn't know what the knife was for (well, I think the majority of people will think the same) until I told him that was for cutting the burger apart. First slurp of the broth before I added anything else into the saimin bowl: w-o-w ! incredible flavor and taste that met with my satisfaction immediately ! Compared to the saimin place we went to about 2 to 3 weeks prior on Nimitz Hwy, this saimin with its broth was stomping over them by a wide margin! Yes, folks ... the saimin here which comes with their on the premises manufactured noodles with green onions, spam and char siu slays that other place! Yes there was char siu, but just a few slivers (knowing that char siu is expensive compared to spam). As for the bbq cheeseburger deluxe, this is such a good addition to eat along with the saimin! As I had mentioned before, I have lived here all my life and NEVER knew this was 'a thing' to eat saimin/won ton mein along with a burger/cheeseburger --- who would have thought??? With the bbq sauce (aka: teri sauce to me), it looked difficult as to how to hold the burger, but seeing hints on the internet, I ate it upside down... but still, the sauce was a little too much to handle and would drip or the soft buns would soak up and crumble while holding. Ahh, yes, the knife ! Much easier to handle, so yes, first thing to do is to cut it into half a burger to get a manageable hold on the burger. Oh, so tasty... that first chew... wow was that burger so soft and delicate unlike fast food burgers that you would have to chew off... if you know wha

Great local place to eat. When ever I return to Wahiawa, I have to have a meal at Shige's. Real old school service and Ohana atmosphere.

First time eating at Shige's. Nice homemade noodles... not like the thin curly noodles, but, loved every bite. I ordered the veggie saimin and BBQ. Hubby ordered large won ton min, excellent, yummy heartwarming broth. BBQ was wonderful with great flavor and very tender. Will definitely return for more. We ordered fried noodle to go, can't wait for dinner.

I would love to give this place a 6/5 stars as the food and experience is so good. I have been here quite a few times on my trip(s) to Hawaii and it is always good and consistent as I always get the BBQ burger and Saimin. The service here is always good and the workers are just so nice and considerate. I could write so many more good things about this restaurant but I must hold myself back from writing a 5 paragraph essay. Overall, Amazing restaurant

Neighborhood restaurants with mostly regular customers. No wait when we came for dinner on a weekday. They still have the same menu as when they first opened and do everything from saimin to musubis, hamburgers, and plate lunch. We ordered a wonton mein to share. The noodles were made freshly made in house and cooked to a chewy medium. It also came with a lot of toppings. The ratio of everything felt just right, and the price point was very reasonable for how much food we got. We liked this much more than Palace Saimin. Service was fantastic and the people were incredibly kind and friendly. We loved our experience here.

Always good food and service. I've been coming here since I was a kid! One of those hole in the wall paces you love in HI.

We were going to another restaurant for lunch but good thing there wasn't any parking there, so we came here. A co-worker brought me here decades ago and today I finally returned with hubs.??The menu looked so good I told him we should order for dinner too. The waitresses are so efficient, speedy and friendly. Plus all three were young and pretty. The restaurant was packed. As soon as one party left, another one was ready to zip right in. There is a sign in list when you enter on your right. I had to try their wonton udon, bbq sticks and scoop of Mac salad so firm and compact. Oh and I had to have a fruit punch too. Don't know why but places like this, I need a fruit punch instead of an iced coffee or iced tea.
