The bessssssssstttt dessert!!! I don't have a sweet tooth but my husband was able to convince me to try this place. I am sooo happy that we tried it. This place is like a hole in the wall. Got the ube kalo which made me dance. It has ube crinkle toppings too!!! Just the right balance of sweetness. The kalo has like a mochi/sticky consistency.. must try!!!

Looked for something to cool us down whilst on the west side and wanted to try this unique Hawaiian twist to a basic ice cream place. What makes this place different is the topping of pounded taro- texture is not exactly like poi but similar to chewy mochi. Not much taste by itself but it's meant to be a texture topping. Overall this place was okay. We felt like it was alike overpriced. Small little shack and small parking area. Things could be all customizable to what you like. Good for the experience but not sure if I'd return.

This place is amazing! Super good ice cream, really good flavor, and great toppings. The ice cream comes fast served in either large or small. There was no line, we got our ice cream in under 3 minutes. The place in total is very small and has outdoor siting on the side. Overall very good ice cream and pounded taro!

Y'all it's sooooo goood !!!!!!! I ordered the Oreo kalo bomb and I was in love tbh ! It's so unfortunate that they close at 5... but it's worth the drive I think !

This was the perfect dessert it was dough and creamy with the topping it add a little crunch to it. It had all three elements I was looking for in a dessert. I may have topped it with a caramelized apple or a hint of carmel sauce. Other than that, it was perfect. I will be stopping back when I'm in the neighborhood. I hope this helps you out and have a great day

I've been wanting to try this place for so long but I've been hesitant to make the drive. Luckily, I finally got to try them at the Oahu Foodies Feastival this past Friday. The service was friendly and quick.Their ube bomb was the BOMB! It has Pa'i'ai with ube ice cream and ubae cookie crumbs topped with ube drizzle and niu flakes. It satisfied my sweet tooth, without being too overly sweet. I enjoyed all the different textures from the creamy ice cream to the crunch of the cookies. It was big enough for me to share, but it was hard to! I enjoyed every last bite. I know now that they're definitely worth the drive to the West side. I'm already craving my next kalo bomb. Support local!

Kalo bomb is located in Waianae, I got to try this little hole in the wall after hiking the pink pill box. There isn't much on the menu now but still worth trying! My friend and I ordered the Pa'i 'Ai bomb with haupia Dave's ice cream. The Kalo was sooo soft like mochi and the haupia ice cream complemented it so well. It was very delicious and refreshing. I didn't care for the coconut flakes so maybe next time I'll skip it. If you bring your own spoon you can get a dollar off your order!!Since we were the first ones there, service was very quick. There is seating on the side of Kalo bomb to enjoy your sweet treat. The painting of moon phases is very beautiful and the colorful taro leaf. I would definitely come back next time I'm in the area!

We stopped here to get ice cream. We really enjoyed it. The acai bowl was different, but overall it was good. Its a small place always has a few people in line so be patient. Thank you.

On my recent visit to Oahu I finally made it to the west side and tried Kalo Bombs. I got the Pa'i 'Ai bowl with kulolo ice cream and my husband got his with haupia ice cream. Both tasted amazing and fresh! So worth the drive!

If you're on the west side- you have to stop by Kalo Bombs! They specialize in Pa'i 'ai which is made from kalo (taro). Pa'i 'ai is the stage before poi when you're pounding kalo. If you're the type of person who would describe their perfect dessert as "not too sweet" pa'i 'ai is the perfect add-on to balance out the sweetness of ice cream or acai. Kalo Bombs is a grab-n-go, takeout only spot. There's ample parking and a few benches to sit and enjoy your Pa'i 'ai treat alongside the establishment, but I highly recommend taking your kalo bomb to a nearby beach to enjoy. Kalo Bombs sources their ingredients locally. The ice cream is locally made and include flavors like haupia, ube, kūlolo, strawberry, blueberry cheesecakes, and cookies and cream. I tried their Pa'i 'ai bomb with haupia (coconut) ice cream, fresh pa'i 'ai (4oz), niu (coconut) cream and niu flakes. Visually, there was more to be desired- but that's on me for picking a white ice cream paired with the dully colored pa'i ai. Looks aside, it is so delicious! The haupia ice cream is perfectly balanced with the pa'i 'ai making for the best "not too sweet" dessert and the coconut shavings add great texture. It's soft, creamy, not too sweet, and has 3 different textures- the perfect combination. They do have specials that are very colorful and visually appealing. Look out for their whiteboard where they write their weekly specials, or follow them on social media to see what new things they will be offering. I was surprised to see a savory bowl as a special- with laulau, lomi salmon, and pa'i 'ai! I can't wait to try out their acai with pa'i 'ai next. If there's one thing about me, it's that I will always be the biggest advocate for locally sourced everything. Kalo Bombs is an innovator in the Hawaiian foods space and I can't wait to see what they do next!

This was the first time I've ever had a kalo bomb, but I was in love. I don't think you have to love poi to even enjoy this desert. I got the love bomb which is perfect for those not sure if they like poi. The flavor of the poi is covered by the strawberry ice cream and the chocolate syrup. Hubby got the Kalo bomb nui which had paiai, coconut, granola, and lots more yummies. It's a far drive from where we live but so worth it.

Ayeeee this place *is* pretty bomb!I've heard that Kalo Bombs was one of the best places on the west side to get dessert, if not, the best, so after my haircut appointment in Ko Olina, I decided to make the drive over.Going towards Yokes and Makaha, the shop is found on the mauka (same side as the mountains) side of the road in the same building as Countryside Cafe right before Waianae Comp. It's a walk-up window kind of place, with a simple menu of different pa'i'ai (think of it like the sweet version of poi) combinations. I ended up getting the:*pa'i'ai bomb with haupia ice cream ($12): sticky, sweet, with creamy coconut flavor, this was satisfying for a hot day.*strawberry shortcake bomb ($14.50): with strawberry ice cream, pa'i'ai, coconut cream and flakes, pound cake, fresh strawberries, whipped cream, and strawberry drizzle, this creation is strawberried out to the max. Pretty good! This definitely hit the spot on a hot day on the West Side; glad I got to try!

Nice cool snack after the beach. Small parking lot that can get tricky to find the entrance. Busy highway so be careful. Bit pricey. Nice alternative to shave ice or ice cream sundae.
