Excellent! We've eaten here twice this week! Servers are spot on! Barkeep is so nice! It's a busy place—especially during happy hour. The have a tv at the bar to watch football!

The Korean style beef spareribs and Portuguese chicken were excellent. The hamachi flown in from Japan was a little past its prime. Not bad, but not unctuous. The cocktails were also excellent and the wine list is varied and expertly selected and reasonably priced for Hawaii. The dessert of the tort with a healthy scoop of macadamia nut ice cream was an outstanding note to finish on.

The Thanksgiving special menu was okay, but nothing spectacular. sides dishes were all crowded together on the plate, and the au jus for the prime rib sort of soaked into everything. The stuffing was tasty, but the mac and cheese was rather tasteless. All in all, I expected better. Dessert was my favorite part of the meal. A pumpkin crunch with fresh whipped cream. Service was attentive without being overbearing.

After more than 35 years of mariage, we decided not to cook and treat ourselves. Well this thanksgiving lunch was more than mediocre. It felt like cafeteria food, no taste and not even appetizing .No presentation, no ambiance, no life in the restaurant. My husband and I were really looking forward to it. In less than 45mn we were done and back at home. Very very disappointed.

We had a great experience at the FORC and definitely plan to return. The food was as good or better than some of the big name local restaurants, but at a more relaxed and less pretentious level, and at a better price point, possibly because it doesn't have an ocean view or the expenses that come with that. But once it gets dark what does that matter. We had a great server and we chose two delicious entrees. I had the whole fish, which was a Moi, that had been sustainably farmed. Nice, moist and flavorful. But as a warning you are going to have to debone it and you will get some in your mouth occasionally. Not a problem for me, but some might find that is an issue for them. My wife had the surf & turf, which was the Miso Butterfish and short rib combo. It was five stars! I wish she had shared more! We shared the panna cotta for dessert with fresh strawberries. A nice end to a new favorite restaurant! Well done FORC.

As always the food was great, and the service was also good. We will be back for sure. We introduced a friend there and she really liked it as well. Mahalo!

FORC is not fancy fine dining, just very, very fine dining. We shared Birria Tacos (excellent) tuna sashimi (perfect) And the best, most creative Surf and Turf, ever. Miso butterfish with macnut rice, and braised Korean shortrib with mashed potatoes and green beans. Superb! Unbeatable service, even on a busy weeknight.

Local Big Island gourmet gastro-pub with hyper local ingredients, fine dining quality food, truly warm aloha service and a relaxed small town atmosphere.

We had Miso Butterfish, and Korean Short Ribs with the clams appetizer. Totally worth it! Better food than the resorts at a locals price point. Worth the drive from Waikoloa, Mauna Lani, Hapuna, etc.

Fine dining food quality and service with a low key locals / small town vibe. Super local, super seasonal menu with some fantastic fish and local veg. Chef Hess seems to lean into several regional ethnic themes, so a lot of diversity in terms of flavors. Food cooked to perfection (flaky, juicy fish, fork tender beef ribs, etc). Diverse wine list and some fun cocktails. My new favorite big island restaurant.

A couple of us really enjoyed the lobster with steamed pumpkin. The others loved their rib eye steaks. We are never disappointed at FORC. Owner Allen Hess serves unique preparations taking full advantage of local fish and meat options.

How did I miss this place? After numerous visits to the Big Island I finally made it to FORC which cleverly stands for Farmers, Ocean, Ranchers, Cooks. Our server, Nanaia, was exceptional. We started off with 2 different tasty cocktails, wailea ranch water and a spicy Margherita. We then shared the oyster appetizer and a salad. We were thinking of their Miso butterfish entrée but ultimately both had their signature Kau coffee encrusted NY strip. The steak was so delicious that we made reservations on 5he spot to return 3 days later something I had never done before. When we returned the server immediately recognized us and waved from across the restaurant. She even remembered our drink preferences from the previous visit. We were treated like we were regular local diners (of which there were many dining) and this time my wife had the Miso Butterfish and I had a NY strip repeat. The butterfish was flavorful and perfectly cooked. Two very enjoyable meals. Highly recommended!
