My husband and I thoroughly enjoyed our meal at Forc. In fact, we were pleasantly surprised by our dining experience. Food was excellent and wait staff so nice. The bartender is friendly. Just an all over great night.
Excellent healthy food true to FORC principles (but it is hard to not succumb to the luscious chocolate macadamia nut tart !) A neighborhood gem where “ blow-ins” are made to feel like locals..
The service and food at FORC are outstanding. We very much enjoyed our dining experience and would recommend it to anyone, especitally those interested in the farm-to-table approach.
We haven't been there in quite a while and our friends invited us to go so we said sure. It was such a wonderful dinner, Three of us had the combo of butterflies & Korean ribs and one had just the butterflies and all were so yummy. One person is gluten & dairy free and had no issues. We even enjoyed dessert, some sorbet and a chocolate creme burle. My husband had a Manhattan and he said it was one of the best he ever had. My friend & I enjoyed lilikoi margaritas that went down so well.
Food is local, healthy, and prepared in a creative, artistic and delicious way. Service is really pleasant and top notch, caring. So nice to find a really great restaurant here. Not since Sushi Rock (miss you!) have we raved about a meal here on the Big Island. Only criticism is we were seated inside (reserved outside, but not sure there even is outdoor seating) and lighting indoors is bright, a bit too bright and white for my taste, and misic was a bit loud. Otherwise this was an excellent experience. Oh! And the chocolate creme brulee was as good as it gets. Yum!
Jessica was our friendly enthusiastic knowledgeable server. We split the delicious FORC House Salad, composed of butter lettuce, tomatoes, cucumber, local goat cheese crumbles. The pineapple brown butter salad dressing was so delicious I wanted to lick the bowl. My husband had the amazing coffee crusted NY steak and I devoured the Twice Cooked Chicken served in its cast iron pot. The local macadamia nut ice cream paired with lilikoi sorbet were a great finish to a fantastic dinner. The simple decor and ambience made us feel as if we were at home.......with better food. FORC is a treat.
The creative menu is well balanced. We ventured into miso butterfish, ribeye, and surf and turf finding each delicious! The starter Japanese Sashimi was excellent. Wine, beer, spirits list is more than adequate for a variety of tastes.
Delicious farm to table food, served by very kind, attentive staff. I will definitely return on my next trip to The Big Island.
Great farm to table restaurant, highly recommend the lamb, friendly warm service - Must visit destination
Excellent! We've eaten here twice this week! Servers are spot on! Barkeep is so nice! It's a busy place—especially during happy hour. The have a tv at the bar to watch football!

The Korean style beef spareribs and Portuguese chicken were excellent. The hamachi flown in from Japan was a little past its prime. Not bad, but not unctuous. The cocktails were also excellent and the wine list is varied and expertly selected and reasonably priced for Hawaii. The dessert of the tort with a healthy scoop of macadamia nut ice cream was an outstanding note to finish on.
The Thanksgiving special menu was okay, but nothing spectacular. sides dishes were all crowded together on the plate, and the au jus for the prime rib sort of soaked into everything. The stuffing was tasty, but the mac and cheese was rather tasteless. All in all, I expected better. Dessert was my favorite part of the meal. A pumpkin crunch with fresh whipped cream. Service was attentive without being overbearing.
After more than 35 years of mariage, we decided not to cook and treat ourselves. Well this thanksgiving lunch was more than mediocre. It felt like cafeteria food, no taste and not even appetizing .No presentation, no ambiance, no life in the restaurant. My husband and I were really looking forward to it. In less than 45mn we were done and back at home. Very very disappointed.
We had a great experience at the FORC and definitely plan to return. The food was as good or better than some of the big name local restaurants, but at a more relaxed and less pretentious level, and at a better price point, possibly because it doesn't have an ocean view or the expenses that come with that. But once it gets dark what does that matter. We had a great server and we chose two delicious entrees. I had the whole fish, which was a Moi, that had been sustainably farmed. Nice, moist and flavorful. But as a warning you are going to have to debone it and you will get some in your mouth occasionally. Not a problem for me, but some might find that is an issue for them. My wife had the surf & turf, which was the Miso Butterfish and short rib combo. It was five stars! I wish she had shared more! We shared the panna cotta for dessert with fresh strawberries. A nice end to a new favorite restaurant! Well done FORC.
Our waitress Jessica was excellent. The food and drinks were very good.
The bone marrow and oysters were delicious.
