I almost never give bad reviews but this place earned it by grossly overcharging. I didn’t go back to complain because we were half way home before I calculated; the woman does not provide receipts plus they only accept cash so it would have been hard to prove. My bill should have been $75 (2 shrimp tempura; 1 char siu chicken; 2 orders of lumpia & 5 donuts - plus tax I am told is 4.5%) but she charged me $106.25.She also spoke extremely softly behind her mask inside food truck - so very difficult to hear her over their very loud generator.The food itself was ok but not exceptional - the plate lunches at L&L are larger and as good or better tasting - and also priced at ~ $7-8 less per plate.Also I ordered beef lumpia but she gave us vegetable; & my friend said they didn’t tempura the shrimp themselves - they are the same tempura shrimp you buy frozen at Foodland.I’m wouldn’t have written a bad review, however, if this woman had not charged me $106.25 for an ~ $80 order. Overcharging customers $25 & not providing receipts is unscrupulous - stealing.

Whenever we are in the Big Island, I always look forward to Wednesdays because I know I will get to taste Aunty Kana'i's pork teriyaki that day. My mouth is watering now just writing this. The meat is very tender and tasty, and the taste is so yummy. I can't say this enough but this is just the best teriyaki flavor I've ever had. Thank you Aunty Kana'i and Roscoe!

We fell upon this food truck at a local market in Waimae on the big island. Since this was just a weekend event, they had a limited menu but we couldn't pass up the aroma. They had covered tables set up which was a respite from the heat with table cloths. The portions were very large (my husband and I shared a plate with left overs). They have a special "Auntie Kamat's teriyaki" made which was delicious. I am not usually a fan but this was delicious. They don't have a permanent place. They do have a facebook page and their current location can be found on Yelp. On Top of Mauna Kea @OnTOPofMaunaKEA Here is another review and I couldn't say it better: I tracked this place down during a recent visit to the Big Island. You may need to do the same since it is a food truck and is truly mobile, unlike some of the vehicles in L.A., which are sort of permanently parked in one spot or another. If you write to them via Yelp, they will tell you their location for the day. I found them at the Waimea-Kamuela farmer's market. There was Roscoe the owner, working the grill. His mom, who came up with the recipe for the guava teriyaki chicken (and probably many other dishes too) was there as well. Even a maitre'd-like fellow was on hand to direct the line and take the orders. You will love the chicken--tender and tasty. Get a plate lunch and you will leave satisfied--and possibly even have food left over. If you so desire, you may pick up a bottle of guava-teri sauce(see profile picture) so you can marinate or dip to your delight once you've left the islands. Track them down. You won't regret it. The family-like atmosphere only adds to the pleasure.
