We drove an hour to try their Japanese cheesecake, which was light, airy, and not too sweet, but the real hit was their lilikoi cake. It was HEAVENLY! We also got a loaf of their soft pan bread, which they were kind enough to cut for us, spam sandwiches. We also got the milk France, which had a very crisp outer crust and a nice creamy filling. The only thing that would have made it perfect would be if they used whipped salted butter, but that's not what the French use so...
We wholeheartedly believe that Patisserie Nanako is the best bakery on the Big Island. Our love story with their cakes & pastries began last year when we were on the island for wedding planning, and my sister - who is a HUGE fan of the bakery - insisted we give them a try. From the very first bite, we were totally blown away. We tried a variety of their cakes, and they were all equally delicious - moist, perfectly balanced, and not too sweet.
