Enjoyed it much. Had eggplant stuffed with pork hash with a thick soy type dip and char siu gon lo mein. Eggplant was dipped in thick yellow batter and deep fried but tastes of hash and eggplant though bland. Nice big nuggets. Noodles had lots of long and thick char siu pieces, very generous. Good size portions.

Worst Chinese I've ever had, by far. The advertised egg rolls are in fact spring rolls with near empty contents. Orange chicken was soggy and the chicken was not fully cooked. Little meat was included in the Beef and Broccoli, and the broccoli was mushy and watery. Agreed by my whole extended family it was a horrible experience and it was wasted food as it went uneaten. If you have respect for yourself and what you put in your body you will avoid this place at all costs. My own children, who love Chinese, didn't eat one serving from the 6 entrees we ordered. We called and they basically said they didn't care. Waste of money

We've been ordering from Far East for decades and have never had a problem. Today, we ordered takeout; the same order we always do. We noticed that the cake noodles tasted bad/spoiled, so we stopped eating it and called to let the restaurant know. I was told the noodles were made this morning (mind you, we picked up our order at 3pm, and there are many reasons why noodles made in the morning could go bad by 3pm), but that they would refund me for the noodles AND I can't order cake noodles again because they made the noodles this morning and I said they were bad (that's exactly how it was explained to me). I didn't make the connection until I got there and as they handed me a $10 bill (my complete order was $60.00), I had to write my name and give my number on a post-it so it could be put by the phone to ensure I don't order cake noodles again. I was floored. I hadn't made a scene, nor was I angry when I called. I simply let them know the noodles was bad. We had stopped eating the noodles and put them in a bowl to bring back. My family has all worked in food service so we understand that sometimes, something gets missed. It happens. We assume there was no ill intention. To add insult to injury, we ordered shrimp canton, and they didn't give us the canton sauce, so since I was bringing the cake noodles back, I asked for the sauce and was told they don't forget the sauce, but they begrudgingly gave me the sauce anyway. It's unfortunate that after so many years of patronage, we will not be ordering from Far East Chop Suey ever again.

Is not as good as I remember. I used to keep buying this back in 2008. A friend ordered and I love the taste. But didn't enjoy it this time.

It's been a long time since I've been to Far East Chop Suey in Waipahu......mainly due to Covid...but it's been a year n 4 months...time to give it a try...my Bestie and I wanted to meet for a breakfast date....her hubby suggested Far East Chop Suey...okay, sounds like a good idea since we both enjoy Chinese food! Stepping into the restaurant was a nice surprise.....Totally renovated....gone are the lackluster feel of the outdated decor, n boring wall menu's.....what we see now is a fresher, more attractive restaurant.....new up to date menu board showing each dish....tables have been outfitted with new tablecloths..walls have also been refreshed...all in all...they have done a good job remaking this restaurant to be appealing to old time customers and to all the new ones!! 4* Covid protocols: customers n workers are all masked...sanitizers are available at checkout 4* Preparation and presentation of food: food was well seasoned and cooked perfectly..we had ordered only 3 items: Shrimp Canton, White fish w/green onions n Sauce, 1/2 roast duck...portions were good! 4* Customer service: we know the waitress.. she's been there forever n has always been very nice...quickly took our order, gave us water n utensils..food was prepared under 20 minutes *note there only 3 customers when we arrived Pro's: good menu selection, prices are reasonable, serving portions quite good Con: we had also ordered roast pork, after waiting a bit, we were told they were out. Overall: this was a pleasant surprise to see this long time restaurant receive such a nice facelift.... ....food is good, parking is available in front of restaurant.. We'll definitely return to try more of their menu choices!! *We we're informed that there are new owners!

There food was absolutely disappointing! There service was horrible! And they gave us the wrong dishes! There was only one server that also took care of the register and it seem as if she only cared about the money. Her only concern was taking care of people paying for there food! We didn't even get all of our dishes before I stood up after over 30 minutes of waiting I walked to the register and paid for our food and we left. I will never ever be eating there again!!

I've been eating at this restaurant since I was a kid, we came here to have dinner for my sons graduation, we had already given them our order days ahead, they called me on the day of the dinner to confirm everything (appreciated that), when our scheduled time for dinner came around, we was running late but had some family at the restaurant already, they were very courteous and waited for us to arrive from the graduation before they started cooking/serving the food. It was exceptional service and the staff was great. Food is always good and quick! Mahalo Far East Chop Suey for taking care of me and my Ohana all these years!

I Hate doughing out triple star reviews unfortunately this is one of them. We used to use Far east every year for 30 years ( Family party) and their food was really good !! I noticed something odd when I entered recently I noticed it doesnt look like a chopsuey place suspended in time from the 1960s as much. They have new owners and they added a new big screen Tv and an L&L type of colored menu board and the insides just look a bit more modern. It seems like they are trying to blend an L&L type restaurant with an old chop suey house. My folks noticed the food has also changed..not bad but not how my folks remembered it being. We came here to pick up food for my parents anniversary...We ordered the cold ginger chicken (I call it corpse chicken ) and the fish fillet. I called ahead to order it and my order was already done and waiting when I came the only problem was (we all need to check food before we leave) got back to my parents house ( a good 20-25 minute drive) and far east forgot to include the green ginger sauce..yikes!! and also forgot the rice that goes with the fish ....I wasn't happy and ended up driving all the way back because it was my folks anniversary...at least the worker was appologetic and gave us a complimentary order of crispy gaugee....I guess they had several graduation partys in house and somehow forgot...I was really upset but new owners and hosting several partys so I will just forget about them forgetting all the important essentials and say we was supposed to have originally have gone to "House of dragon" but they was closed (maintenance on kitchen) so we ended up at far east. Not a bad choice just check your food before you leave.

Delicious food, eat here every time I visit Hawaii.

JUST BOYS

Got take out yesterday and when I went to take out the food containers from the monster soda box that our food was in I noticed a black dot. After better examination I realized that black spot was a little cockroach. So then I continued removing all of the food containers and realized that the entire box was infested with little blank dots and little cockroaches. I dont know how the person who put our food containers in this box couldn't see all the roaches. I was just so disgusted. I will never eat here again.

I've been eating at this place since I was a kid in the 1980's growing up in Waipahu. The ownership has changed several times, but for the most part the food is pretty consistent. The prices are fairly reasonable also. I recommend the pan fried squid if you haven't tried it, it's basically calamari that's fried in a spicy seasoning, but if you don't like it spicy you can let them know and they will cook it mild for you. This place is a historic landmark in the Waipahu Shopping Plaza. If you get a chance, check it out!

Talking about going way back old school as long as I can remember this Chinese restaurant located in Waipahu been here for Years. My family used to come here back in the late 70's as I can remember when I was a kid . Probably not the original owner but to keep the same name and be in business for this long that's a milestone. Especially during this pandemic many businesses closing their doors which in very sad and unfortunate, Now I'm going to show my age I could remember when this Chinese restaurant had a soda machine that sell Diamond Head soda in bottles wow not to much people is going to remember that . Also there was gum machine with Li hing mui seeds in a plastic container also Boston bean candies lol. That's going way back old school . Far East chop suey is very tasty and very reasonable compared to most Chinese restaurant our tab was only $24.00 Crispy Gau gee Mein and Cold Ginger chicken w/rice and 2 soft drinks . Social distancing is practice here and very fast and friendly sraff. I highly recommend this place if your in the area. Support local and keep on wearing your mask
