Beef stew was good. This time meat wasn’t as tender as it usually is and was mostly fat vs. meat. Squid luau was good. If you haven’t tried it yet, I recommend trying the squid luau.

Delicious traditional Hawaiian food, we had the chopped steak with toss salad and rice and it was mouthwatering. Ordering was a bit challenging to understand but the man was super helpful.

Stumbled upon the food trucks when we were in the area. Decided to try this one out, which turned out to be good. The special was a steak dish and also had the pork/chicken combo.
Everything was pretty good, however the menu song doesn’t let you know everything you are getting. I didn’t know the chicken was with noodles, the special didn’t specify the sides, etc.
In any event, enjoyed it all (even though the Mac salad is like 45% mayo)
Would definitely get the kalua pork and absolutely would get the steak special again. It was my favourite.

Shoyu pork more like Shoyu fat. Ordered a plate of Shoyu pork more than half the plate was straight up FAT. No meat just Gout action. Pastele stew was good doe but don’t order the Shoyu pork unless you like be bed ridden with gout.

Ordered a mini Chicken Long rice plate, there was a good amount of rice and noodles but there was only 2 small pieces of chicken…. Not worth almost $15 at all

Me and my wife are visiting Hawaii on our honeymoon. We try to go and support local businesses as much as possible. I saw this place on a TikTok video, so we got into the car and drove there. The drive from Waikiki is about 9 miles but with traffic it took us about 35 minutes to get there. When we got there the lady that was there greeted us with a warm smile and she offered to let us try the Chicken long rice before we ordered it. The food was sooooo good it was definitely worth the drive up there. I highly recommend this place and I highly recommend the Chicken long rice. Also, i recommend getting the Diamond Head soda with it. Thank you Laverne’s for the amazing food and service.

Was afternoon, and I had not eaten yet. Food has a good taste. But the food I had was genuinely cold. I ordered two separate plates, and I could not get a warm one. Closer in temperature to the cold Mac salad that to any hot entree you'd expect. For my first meal, I was hoping for a hot one. Instead I was greeted with 0 customer service from the guy at the truck, who was just busy scrolling on the phone or whatever. Had no aloha. I don't leave reviews, but for 35 dollars I'd love to have a good experience. I'd rather go to mcdonalds than to return here. Give me hot rice, hot entree. If not, tell me it's not gonna be hot so I don't waste my time.

Service is good, the food is good as long its still hot at the end of the day and your the last custom or they'd had alot of customs during the day and you dont end up with a plate full of gravy and no meat and you dont find out about what your plate is missing until you too far away to return it

First time ordering from this lunch wagon online for PICK UP was a rip off as we noticed their online website charges $18.50 for a regular plate lunch but the menu sign prices were $14.95. The carbs exceeded the small scoop of smoked meat and onions with two large scoops of soft white rice and plain, no flavor Mac salad. I tried to email back the lunch wagon to request a refund for the over charged fees but Google reported the email doesn’t exist. Buyer’s beware. Laverne’s Hawaiian Food wasn’t that spectacular and there are better Hawaiian eating establishments that won’t rip you off, suck as Young’s Fish Market in Kapolei Commons & the price is worth it.
