I ordered takeout from Max's tonight and was so disappointed about the portion of the main dish. I ordered the Small Garlic Fried Rice for $6.50 and the Pork Binagoongan (pork shoulder with shrimp paste) for $16.95. The fried rice is great as always and tastes just like how mom makes it and the portion was good for the price. As for the pork, goodness goodness goodness the small portion was such a disappointment. At $16.95 for this dish it filled up the container half way and had only 5 pieces in there and a sad piece of eggplant. One, yes one slice of eggplant. I laughed at the silliness of my meal because I felt so robbed by the portions. It tasted great, don't get me wrong but I wish they put a little more in there. I could hold the whole dish in my hand if I wanted to, but didn't...not gonna lie, I almost did just to drive the point of the small portion for the sake of a photo opp. All in all everything tasted great, but the portion of the main dish was just sad. It was good enough for one person at best. ***Also note, this isn't a common pork dish people order since the shrimp paste is too aggressive for some people, like my husband, but it tastes great and they do a good job here. I believe this is also the FIRST photo of it here on yelp lol

Hello! Just wanna make sure that razelle was my mom at max's restaurant but told me that someone was being mean to her

I've given this establishment my business despite their low rating. But after my experience with their staff this morning i totally understand why their ratings are so low and I will no longer be ordering food from here. Their staff has the worst attitude. I've never been treated like I was doing something wrong before by trying to order food from an establishment till today. Their online ordering system doesn't seem to work right. I placed my order and I received a pending charge on my debit card. I waited 30 minutes but I did not receive an email or text confirmation. I then proceeded to call their staff for assistance. The first young lady to answer did not know how to look up or confirm my order. The second older lady, which was the rude lady, told me to provide her with a number. How can I provide a number without a confirmation email or text? She said that I just needed to provide a number or push some button on their website and there's nothing she can do. Then proceeded to tell me I have to figure it out. I usually don't leave reviews like this but this one was warranted. I hope that upper management will look into this. I will also be filing a formal complaint to Max's head quarters for the disrespectful and rude treatment of employees.

First impression was meh! We walked in and the girl in the front (Razelle) looked at us and walked away and then just watched us stand there from another part of the restaurant. Then after a while she came back to the front and asked if we were taking out. We were dining in. So she walked us to our table. Can I say she (Razelle) is the worst server. She took our order and disappeared. We then had Henry come by and started to take care of us afterwards because (Razelle) ignored us after taking our order. Henry was an amazing server! Very attentive and great! He brought us plates and water which (Razelle) didnt even bring before our food got to our table. She had the worst attitude! Then we finished off with Henry. He brought us our doggy bag and our dessert. We ordered the small garlic rice, the bulaklak, Max’s chicken and they were all good. The only thing I didnt like was the kare kare. Usually I am used to the oxtail in the karekare fall off the bone soft and this one was hard and I didnt like the flavor of it. I gave it 3 stars because of Henry and the other tasty things on the menu. Halo Halo was nice!

Upon entering the restaurant, I noticed that the tables were set up, cafeteria style. Except for the table we sat at. As we were ordering those ,tables quickly filled. The restaurant had three large parties . Even though It was busy, the service was good. We were surprised at how fast our order was brought out. As for the food, the dish that our party liked best was the Chicken Balakalak. (Whole fried chicken). Our order of Lechon Kawali came without the vegetables normally associated with the dish. The Pic on the menu did show the veggies. We had the halo halo for dessert. When it came our table, the shved ice was melted. The overall taste was good. I'm not sure what region of the Philippines the recipes came from. It was different from other Filipino restaurants I normally frequent. Enjoy .

Ok sure the service might be bad from time to time but the amount of times I’ve seen this branch have a lot of orders come in is stressful. The food is really good, the place and decor is really nice.

There were six of us for dinner last night. Service was quick and efficient. The Kare Kare was very good along with the garlic fried rice, Bicol express, chicken, and crispy pata. The fresh lumpia was stale as if the ingredients were left out all day, the palabok had very little sauce and almost no taste. The sinigang ng bangus was good but could have been better. Our server Raquel was very professional and courteous. Max must improve their dishes in order to remain competitive.

Having Christmas get together dinner with friends. Haven't been here in along time. Tonight was very busy lots of Christmas parties. But at least we got to go in without reservations. We had pansit bihon noodles, pinakbet, dingaguan, their signature fried chicken, lechon kawali, and oxtail soup don't know what the Filipino name is for this soup. The food came out very fast. I guess the kitchen was slamming with food orders. We had to try their halo halo dessert too. It is different from the other Filipino food I've tasted but remember the Philippines have different types of cooking. Lots of parking located by savors and pacific market in waipahu. This place inside is very spacious. They have a big private room and in the back of the restaurant is big also. They're busy. Try them if you into Filipino foods

Favorite halo halo spot... n good traditional Filipino food. Lots of assortment to choose from. I do like their lechon Kawali, pancit bihon & pork adobo.

Embarrassed to admit, but it's my first time trying it. Dinner was chicken & pancit (which was incredible). Service was very friendly and prompt. Atmosphere was family friendly and accommodating.
