Great food service atmosphere. We took our friends for their first time eating here and they were impressed. Great customer service and we got in quickly to have our ono party boat. We love this place and what a treat to come here with great friends and Ohana.

Food was always good but Rolen always tek care. He's a hardworking young man, he's like Fabio without the hair. He has the magical aura. As he drops off our food he has like that star in his eyes, no doubt he's a pisces. But nah food come out on time and is good. Cant weight to come back and eat da boat but just depend if I get one headache that day. Thanks Rolen again supastar

Just had an excellent meal at restaurant Kunio. For today's prices, this was a very reasonable meal. I had the grilled salmon and mixed tempura. The meal came with miso soup, rice, tsukemono and toss salad. Hot tea was complimentary.. The service was excellent. The wait staff were very attentive and very friendly. Great atmosphere, too. Definitely one of the best Japanese restaurants on Oahu.

Super long wait but the batter on the tempura was ono. We waited over an hour but food was great.

Kunio's is a place we've gone to and always enjoyed the food. This past time we did takeout as normal and just after my husband took a bite, out crawls a live roach from his Chirashi bowl!! Extremely disappointed and honestly just hope the staff will do a thorough inspection after this incident.

We have gone here every year for almost two decades for one of my friend's birthdays. The sushi boat here is really a treat. You can't make reservations and the place is usually packed. Awesome service and great food. The only downside is finding a parking spot can be difficult esp. for Handicap parking.

Food is good, good service & very friendly, Junko. Parking is good always find a handicap stall for mom. We go there once a week

Great place to eat while shopping at the Waikele outlets. I had the combo with the miso butterfish and unagi, and it was perfectly done. My wife had the butterfish and sashimi combo, which she also enjoyed.UPDATE: 4 years later, ate here again, and wow, it's still so good! I got the exact same combo of miso butterfish and unagi, and what struck me this time is that the portion size of both was pretty big -- at any other restaurant, I would've expected each piece of fish to be half the size. This is clearly the best place to eat near the outlets.Parking: Plenty of parking in the whole shopping complex, although the section where this restaurant is can fill up fairly quickly.

Sadly, we went there after reading good reviews but were very disappointed. First, the service was not great. The waitress was rushed and busy and had no time to smile or to be pleasant. We ordered Teishoku dishes. The salad was wilty, not fresh, at all, and over doused with thick dressing. The wakame and green onions in the lukewarm miso soup were tough and leathery. The Shrimp Tempura included 4 super thin strings of shrimp bundled in a thick coating of greasy panko. The shrimp had a funny taste to it. The accompanying veggies were few skimpy pieces that were stringy and ill prepared. The tempura dipping sauce was tasteless. The Teri Chicken Teishoku was not much better. The chicken was fatty and yet dry and hard on the edges. After the meal, we left feeling a bit queasy from the greasiness and the overall "flavor" of the food. Almost a turn off to Japanese food, at least for a while. Won't be going back there, unfortunately. We really wanted to like that place!

This is one of my favorite Japanese restaurants on island. I've been here several times, and the quality of food is consistently good. I feel like everything is priced fairly, and I felt like I got a lot for what I paid for! I personally enjoy their miso butterfish and the tempura. It's so nice and fluffy! Service was just alright, but this place is popular, especially at night, so I can tell that the servers were perhaps stretched thin. It is a cozy spot that I love. Maybe don't go at dinner rush (6-8 pm) since once I waited for over an hour and still didn't get seated... but at lunch there was virtually no wait. Highly recommend!

I recently had lunch here again after last visiting 4 years ago, and wow, it's still so good! I got the exact same combo of miso butterfish and unagi as I did last time, and both were absolutely delicious -- really tender and flavorful, and the eel had no rubbery skin. What's really impressive is that the portion size of both was pretty big -- at any other restaurant, I would've expected each piece of fish to be half the size. This is clearly the best place to eat near the outlets. Service was fast and efficient. The place is your typical Japanese restaurant -- elegant and minimal, with plenty of tables and a sushi bar. It can get pretty busy, so be prepared to wait during peak times.

Very disappointed!!! When we arrived at 11 a.m., Sushi bar is closed and won't be open today. Also they don't have any fish, so can't order any fish from the menu. I can't imagine a Japanese restaurant without sushi and fish. Since we are already here, we just order tempura. The potion size is really small on the combination AA. The quality of the tempura is not worth the price. The restaurant is going downhill.
