I received my food by delivery last night which came extremely promptly so I was happy about that. What I wasn't happy about was the taste. I absolutely love Thai food and order it all the time or I drop in. This was my first time eating at this restaurant as I moved to Altoona last night. Excited we ordered from this restaurant. The prices were excellent. But the flavor was not. The chicken saute was excellent as normal. Flavorful full of Curry and the peanut sauce, though a little runny was excellent. The samosas were so so. I could taste a slight fishiness which suggested to me that fish had been seared in the same grease as the samosas which to me is a big No-No. The inside filling was delicious and the sauce is extremely hot so you better like spice. But it was delicious. I ordered pad Thai which is absolutely my favorite but this was not good at all. It was so fishy. It was insane. I know that there is fish sauce in this recipe, but they either dropped an entire bottle of it in there or they used a pan in which they had previously fried fish and not cleaned it. I do not like fish so this really turned me off and I actually throw out the container. I don't mind that there's fish sauce in the recipe, but I do mind when my entire dish tastes like fish. My husband ate it but he too said that it tasted extremely fishy. I was very disappointed and wouldn't eat there again. I believe you have another location somewhere else and I've eaten there and I don't believe there was an issue.

The food was delicious, and we were very surprised to find tbe restaurant almost completely empty besides us! The Orange Peel Chicken was very very good and we recommend it a hundred times over!

I have ordered from here twice in the last 8 years I have lived in Altoona. Not the best but definitely will do in a pinch when I have a craving and don't want to drive to West Des Moines. My go to dish is Basil Fried Rice with Beef. Sadly both times I have ordered this dish, the second time being tonight, the rice was not really fried but more like soft mush, probably means they are frying freshly cooked rice instead of rice that has been refrigerated. The beef also seemed to be boiled and thrown in to heat up in the pan instead of fried. My wife's dish was Pad Thai with chicken but they used shrimp instead. She liked it despite it being wrong. She even says the it is the most tender shrimp she has ever had. Overall, like I said, not the best but works in a pinch. Still good enough that I'll probably use them again.

The Altoona location is absolutely not the same as the OG thai basil. I can't believe they would even allow them to use their name because it's been consistently trash.

So disappointed in this place. Was so good and has totally gone down hill. Food was less than what I want to waste time to put into words consider the money I spent. Take your money and go else where. Have been let down past three times and this last one was the worst. Will never be back. Think panda garden across the street would be a better option and I don't do fast food.
