Very rude and unprofessional. Highly do not recommend lol
Kid-friendliness: Irresponsible with basic necessary tasks coming off as rude and disrespectful. Very unwelcoming that's forsure!

I understand that they were busy but it took approximately 15 min before we waited on. That is why only 3 stars for service. Food was good. Miss Village Inn in my neighborhood.

Hey guys!
My name is Tiana,
I was employed at this Altoona village inn location for 2 years. Over the past 2 years I’ve seen the most unhygienic practices ran within this establishment. The cooks almost NEVER wear gloves or hair nets. The same knives they use to cut RAW MEAT are the same knives they use to also cut vegetables and everything in between, Cooks eat on the same line that they cook food on frequently. All the servers regularly touch hot food with their bare hands when it comes to your pancakes, breads, toast, meat, literally any hot dish you order 9/10 your server dug their hands in your food before it hits your table, which is super gross in general but then you think about the fact that the server also touches their hand-held tablets, money, dirty dishes, dirty straws, cleaning rags, etc. (this was something I was vocal about being unsanitary and no one not even management cared)
The restaurant (VI) has never sanitized any coffee pots or tea pots you receive. They just use water to rinse them out, no soap or sanitizer to sterilize these coffee and tea pots JUST WATER. (It’s been like this for the two years I’ve been here just imagine how long they’ve truly gone without sterilizing these coffee and tea pots)
Management is supposed to routinely clean the restrooms however I’ve personally seen these restrooms be abandoned by management for weeks at a time, no proper cleaning at all just exchange the trashes out, that’s it. The same exact trays that they use to stack piles of dirty dishes and trash on are the same trays used to serve the food you receive w/o even wiping them down.
Management also doesn’t throw out pies when they are expired, they end up sticking their fingers in the cream of the pie(s) and if it’s not “stiff” and still “soft” they will continue to sell the pie despite it being expired.
If you care about the quality of your food and dining experience I as a past employee do NOT recommend this place. Not only is this place extremely unsanitary but also the management is very corrupt and unfair to their workers. Melissa the GM of the store is a cold person who even has ran past illegal practices within the store such as allowing underage children to work within the store & pay them under the table. When I brought up a lot of the corrupt practices to her boss, (his name is Matt) he claimed to investigate and look into everything I told him about what was happening in the store and he did nothing at all.
Do not give this corrupt unhygienic place your business!

The food here is pretty crappy, even if it is cheap. Breakfast and dinner are both subpar from the times I've visited. Service is friendly but always really slow. I haven't been on weekends, so your experience may vary.

My wife and I ate here during late breakfast/early brunch time ~ 9:30 - 10 am. The restaurant had wide-open seating, as this was not a rush time.... Wasn't going to mention it, but honestly the food was bland/greasy. My wife's steak was not cooked to order (she ordered 'medium' and steak was cooked extremely 'well done' and yet soaked in grease). California skillet tasted very bland and was severely lacking in flavor/seasoning. Drink refills were never offered even once throughout our entire visit. Wait staff seemed polite, though.

Dropped by for breakfast and had the Rio Grand skillet. Looking at the new menu, there are three new skillets, a tex mex spicy sausage, steak and eggs and the big country.

One of the worst maintained restrooms I have ever seen. Stool had fecal mater, floor was sticky, and vanity counter and sink hadn't been cleaned in forever unfortunately
