We had to stand for our wait even while there were a lot of empty seats available. There were also a lot of other people standing waiting to be seated and the entrance is very small for that many people. But beyond that, it was a good experience.

On 11/15/24 I was dining at the Ames, IA Applebee's. Our server Laura was great. However the restaurant itself was not pleasant. As we were dining a man came around the corner and started yelling at our server in public where diners could hear him. He told her she was a drain on the culture of HIS restaurant and some reference about a contest. I didn't hear everything he was saying but he was very unprofessional. Laura handled the situation gracefully and she continued to treat us well. Not only was his behavior unacceptable it was also unnecessary. I also noticed some staff in uniform conversing with a women at the end of the bar not doing anything at all except staring at each other. As an owner of business myself I would never berate my employees or contractors in the view of the public. I dine here often, but if the employees are going to be treated so disrespectfully, I will look for another restaurant to eat dinner in an enjoyable environment.

We visited the Applebee’s in Ames on a Tuesday lunch hour. We were told there were only 2 servers and we were greeted with an apology, “I’m doing the best I can”. We said no problem. When our food arrived, the chicken was cold but tasty and the mashed potatoes were not warm enough to melt the butter. We did not complain. Before we left, we used the restrooms. The men’s room was so filthy. There was mud on the floor and urinals were dirty. My husband came out stating, “This place needs to be shut down”. Unfortunately, we cannot give 5 stars for our experience. We had not been to an Applebee’s in years and will not return.

I went to the sports bar restaurant for lunch today. I had lunch with my wife. The drinks and meals were served quickly. The meals were delicious. The most important thing was CHRISTI's thoughtful hospitality.

Went on 10/23/24 and the vibe of the whole place was off the moment we stepped foot in the door. Got seated, got our drinks, but nobody ever came back to our table to take our order. Tables that came in after us had their orders and even got their food, but we still sat there waiting for somebody to take our order. Tried to get attention of some staff but we were ignored. The staff did not appear like they enjoyed being there and you could hear a lady yelling at people in the kitchen. Ended up leaving without getting food after 45 minutes of waiting. Nobody ever came back to our table after bringing us drinks. It wasn’t even that busy.
