Don’t ever order a lettuce wrap from this location. They simply do not know how to wrap it correctly. Two different employees tried to make my lettuce wrap and both times it was open face, with the toppings just laying on a piece of lettuce. I’ve been to several other locations and have never had a problem. This has happened to me twice at this location. Employees were visibly frustrated behind the counter trying to attempt making the lettuce wrap and then just gave up.

The only reason this is receiving more than one star is because the employee, Jonas. On 12/15 we volunteered in the kitchen at the Ronald McDonald House in DSM all day and my husband and I needed to grab some food before heading home with our infant that had gotten crabby after the long day and 50 minute care ride. It was 18 minutes before closing and when I entered I did ask to make sure it was okay that I still ordered because I have worked in the food industry before and I know how frustrating it can be to order before closing like that. Whoever the other employee was that was working started cursing audibly- not even trying to hid it, was literally throwing the meat that he had to cut for me around, slamming things on the counter. He did not put gloves on either. Our sandwiches were slopped together with unevenly cut pieces. Jonas was very nice, I still tipped him. You could tell he was embarrassed by his co-worker's behavior. I am unsure the other employee's name but I made sure to ask about Jonas' because I wanted to ensure he was given a pat on the back for staying calm in the situation for how young he was. I will take the extra 10 minutes to drive to the further JJ's next time I need it.

So I I put an application in and it was 3 months ago you guys are hiring and I haven't heard nothing back great service
Two hairs in one half of one sandwich makes my $12 lunch surprisingly unappetizing. A truly unforgettable dining experience! Next time I'll just order the hair sandwich on wheat.

Make the sandwich how I ordered it. It's the easiest job on the planet and you idiots can't even manage that. Pathetic.

the most animosity filled crew i’m not understanding how me as an african american is told “im not dealing with this” when asked about bread but “anything, and absolutely” is met from someone who is asking about a cup a white women who is my aunt btw. this is the most distasteful crew i’ve ever had to deal with. the man with a black and white beard is completely racist and had a problem with me before i even ordered or asked a question

I called at 12:18 and ordered 8 sandwiches. The call lasted 4 minutes. 38 minutes later my sandwiches were done. That’s 4.75 minutes per sandwich. I wouldn’t call that “freaky fast” (corporate defines freaky fast as 30 sec a sandwich) time to set it up boys! :) like I said, some free cookies would have made it better :( that’s why the 2 stars

This location is situated near the entrance to the North Grand Mall, but has an outside entrance as well. The store is small but the service is great and they made all of our sandwiches correct the first time (even with many modifications requested). Great sandwich shop in an okay location.
Vegetarian options: Few veg options but they are tasty.
Parking: Parking is for general mall patrons, delays the freaky fast claim to your sandwich.

There is not a better sandwich place in Ames. Every time I go in there it's just a bunch of dudes having a good time. They act like bartenders instead of sub sandwich makers. And I'll give a slight nod to Jimmy John's over Firehouse Subs for best tasting subs in

Friendly staff and clean store. Definitely busier on weekends with mall traffic but that do a great job of keeping things moving quickly.
these guys are the lunch break gods. jimmy johns never seizes to amaze me
While I don't generally review if it negative but multiple times they have not been open when their hours say they are. For example sunday I tried to stop at noon, while i stood in the mall area staff indicated from behind the counter that they were not open for orders, and delivery was not an option. Been there before when the store was closed an hour before their published closing time. I have been happy with the service at this location but the operating hour thing needs worked out. Will adjust my rating as needed.
