Great food, great atmosphere, great service great family. Andrew and Anne are operating this wonderful place just across the street from where Andrew’s dad, H. James Potter, was editor at the Ames Tribune for many years and won many awards for journalistic excellence in the state of Iowa in service to the Ames community. Andrew and Anne continue that same tradition of excellence and service in the culinary field. It’s well worth it to venture just a block off Main Street and a block from City Hall and give them a try! Best hash browns I ever had and the breakfast menu is wonderful. That doesn’t begin to address the baked goods. Nice warm family atmosphere and you’ll leave with a warm tummy and warm heart. :)

Local deliciousness in a laid back environment. You can actually carry on a conversation! Quirky vintage items for sale in sitting area. The food is the big winner—fresh, tasty, and not run of the mill.

The best minestrone soup and chicken sandwich five star plus and the chocolate chip cookies are out of this world
What a lovely and wonderful addition to the downtown. Beautiful inside (and outside) space, great food options, and attentive service. If you haven’t discovered this place yet, you’ll be really pleasantly surprised.

Food and drinks are amazing, I recommend the tortellini salad. Love going here for lunch while I study, especially after they started opening late!

We tried this beautiful place after moving our daughter out of her dorm at Iowa State. The atmosphere was great with high ceilings, an open air vibe and lovely natural lighting. The breeze coming through the large windows was so nice as we enjoyed our meal. We came for lunch and got sandwiches and salads. Bonus for us- gluten free bread . I wish I had tried a coffee as it smelled amazing, but I will definitely be returning for that next time.

I am a foodie, and the food was fresh and excellent! I had the chicken salad on a bed of greens and the Bman the French dip (with jalapenos added) with a side salad. Iced tea for both of us! Service was great. We will come again

I absolutely love Potters Eatery! It’s such a super cute spot with a cozy vibe that makes you want to stay awhile. The location is perfect, and it feels like a little treat every time I stop in.
The staff are always so friendly and welcoming—it feels like they really care about their customers. The menu is huge, with so many options, whether you’re in the mood for a full meal, something from the bakery, or just a really good coffee or tea. I’ve tried a few different things and everything has been delicious.
It’s definitely become one of my favorite places in Ames. Can’t wait to go back!
