Excellent simple lunch
Delicious, authentic, huge portions, and a great value!
Great food, great service, great value.
Always have a great Mexican Style Beef Stew! FML it is good!
I wash it down con una Malta India!
The food is really good 👍 😋 👌
I live near Marshalltown but saw a TikTok from Rob Sand raving about the birra tacos. Of course I had to try them out (with no onions) when I was in town today. Soo good and lots of meat in them. I was able to make two meals out of one order. Only $13ish. Will definitely be back to try more options. Had a decent size menu.
This place is the real deal, you can just tell the food is made with love. By far the best birria I’ve had in Ames, and I’ve tried every place. The quesabirrias I ordered were extremely juicy, and loaded with filling. The side of consume was perfectly balanced, not too rich, and had a nice beefy flavor. The rice was fluffy and not overcooked with a great flavor from seasoning.
My girlfriend, a VERY picky eater, ordered a side of sopaipillas and said that they were by far the best she’s ever had. They were fluffy and crispy, perfectly sweet, and “just super yummy”.
I also ordered a pupusa with a filling of chorizo, bean, and cheese. It was very delicious, the crust of the dough was crispy with a nice char, and the dough itself was very fluffy and smooth. It went great with their salsa selection and some lime. Everything was washed down with a delicious, cold, and cheap can of Arizona tea. Overall really excellent eating experience.
The service was also awesome. The owner, greeted us almost immediately and was very polite. One notable moment was him showing me the free salsa selection they have, and explaining the flavors, after bringing out my order of the pupusa.
The store itself is also really authentic, and their selection of baked goods is great. Truly a really awesome place and I recommend everyone come check it out if you’re reading this!

The food is delicious and they have a nice grocery section along with a small bakery. Hands down the best torta I’ve had in a VERY long time. The hot sauces are so flavorful and the grilled onions and pepper is a wonderful addition to any dish. The sopes are HUGE and fully loaded for such a reasonable price. We will definitely be back!

Great food at a decent price. This is a truly authentic Mexican restaurant and clearly the best Latino food in Ames.
Update: Now it's a full fledged Mexican store on top of the best Mexican food in Ames.

Every visit here has been fantastic. I've only had the torta and burrito but the flavors are always cohesive and the portions are generous. The grilled onions, radish, and options at the salsa bar are the icings on the cake
