Tosca is one of my favorite places to eat/have a cup of tea or coffee off campus. It is fancy, has tons of plants, friendly staff, fast service, and good music.
They tried to remake themselves into an Italian Bistro but failed in the execution in many ways. The dishes are super expensive for their quality. And they don't even give bread for the table. I ordered the Fettuccine Alfredo. The chicken tasted like it was fresh out of a can, the noodles were few and undercooked, the mushrooms were chewey and some weren't even separated, and there was more water than sauce in the plate. My gf made the same dish a day later for a fraction of the price, and it was much better. Save yourself the trouble and go to Ge Angelo's instead. At least they give big portions and cook the dishes properly.
It's generally a pretty environment. You need to be careful what you order cause some food are not very good. I had a bad experience from dinner before which I wrote a review. This time I got berry mascarpone crepe for breakfast and it was ok but the combination of mascarpone and sour berry made it taste like spoiled milk!
It's ok in general.
Got the fettuccine, noodles were not al dente, sauce was unflavorful and chicken was extremely dry. House made soda tastes like those Emergen-C Packets. Crepes were also sub par. Would not recommend to anyone.
Three lunches to go! All delicious đ and done to order.
AVOID THIS BAR AT ALL COST! drinks were horrific and some drinks looked like something that had been left in a toilet - after a bad belly ! Staff were so rude and confrontational, they have let Varenna down after our lovely trip today - WE WILL NOT BE RETURNING TO THIS BAR AGAIN !
Loved the outdoor seating on a beautiful fall morning. Plus I could have my dog

I enjoyed their lattes and teas, but the pasta was average. The place has a pleasant ambience in the summer and spring.

The biscuit and gravy looked like dog foodâŠwhy was it brown??⊠I ordered a cappuccino it took at least 20 minutes if not longer, it was room temperature and it was served the same time as my âfoodâ. Go to âflipping jacksâ or âthe Groveâ for the best breakfast and service in Ames. The waitress always remembers me which makes me feel very comfortable

To find the front door was very confusing. Ended up wandering in and not able to find a seat available right away. The waitress almost dropped my group's drinks a few times. The Mimosa was over poured, almost undrinkable.

Great indoor/outdoor seating, friendly attentive staff, however menu has really changed over the years. Extremely limited breakfast menu now. It would be nice if they added a few more choices back on. Now breakfast time there is more of a place to just get a little nosh and visit with family and friends. Coffee is very good, but no free refills. Also you have to plug a meter, so donât forget to bring your change along.
