Sat at the bar and ordered 2 rolls. Nobody asked how the food was. The manager was behind the bar the whole time cleaning and ignored me. Whe I got done eating he told me my waitress would be by shortly. Did not feel welcome. Would have ordered more. Great food.

Not from IA - happily a food snob. Had multiple Michelin Star Japanese/Sushi - spots around the globe.
Wasabi impressed me on the Sushi end of things. Solid quality. I had the Sake, Unagi, Hamachi, and Spicy Tuna Roll. All of them were fresh and tasted good, the Hamachi was exceptional.
The rolls are done properly, meaning the rice ratio is on point.
The Rice Lager was interesting and an overall good selection of beer / liquor.
It’s a bit expensive, but getting quality Sushi to land locked Iowa certainly can’t be easy so it’s worth it!
The staff were all nice and took good care of me.
I will def be going back to try the Ramen.

Best sushi place in Ames and probably the entire area. I have eaten at A LOT of sushi places over the years, and this is one honestly one of the best. Tuna Princess, Marilyn Monroll are must-try sushi rolls if you are a sushi lover. Atmosphere is great and whoever is on aux has a really great music taste.

Ive always loved the food here!
Tonight we came in and waited over an hour for our food, when I brought it up to the manager she apologized and explained there are 3 new cooks in the back that are still learning and training. I wish them the best of luck i truly do! The manager was very polite and professional and we didnt pay for anything, she even packed it up to go for us and sent us out. We love coming here and eating and we will be back for sure

To start, the food is amazing! Each dish was incredible! Everything had so much flavor and was put together very well. Portion sizes are great for the price as well. The chicken was super tender and juicy with just the right amount of teriyaki sauce, in my opinion. Each sushi roll was put together very well with equal proportions. Not too much of one ingredient to overpower the rest. The dumplings were delicious and perfectly crispy on the outside. Not to mention the sauce that came with them was to die for!
The service was great! Our waitress was very patient and helped us figure out what appetizers to get, since it was our first time in. She explained everything in detail and her recommendations were perfect! She even made our drinks (I forgot to get a picture of the strawberry lemonade) and they were awesome!
Inside wasn’t too loud or crowded and it’s laid out quite nicely. There’s even outdoor seating, which isn’t neglected by the wait staff. Some places tend to “forget” about the customers outside but they didn’t do that here. All of the staff were attentive and polite. Even with the bar being next to the table we were sitting at, it didn’t feel crowded inside and the tvs weren’t too loud.

I've been meaning to write a review for a while now. But can I just say YES! All the staff are super awesome. They give you quick service. We love to joke around and have so much fun! We have recommend this restaurant to so many people and have taken people there ourselves. We have gone just for the food which everything is simple and taste amazing. We've celebrated birthdays, anniversary, etc. The restaurant its self is clean and organized. The music isn't to loud, the t.v.s have great stations. People are friendly staff and not. This restaurant is a 100/10 and if we could afford to tip every single person we would. Good job! 😃
