Stopped in Ames on our road trip and were looking for a local, quick eats place for dinner- we were glad we stopped here! Quick service, tasty food, and good gluten free options. Inside is nothing fancy but we don’t mind that.

Our team had such a great experience with West Street Deli in Ames! The sandwiches were absolutely delicious – fresh, flavorful, and packed with so many tasty options that everyone found something they loved. From the bread to the fillings, every bite was top-notch. It was the perfect choice for our meeting, and it made the whole experience even more enjoyable. Highly recommend them if you’re looking for a lunch that’s both convenient and wonderfully satisfying!

Came in town for my sons graduation. He wanted me to try a favorite place he has enjoyed eating at. Wow, this was one of the best deli sandwiches I have ever had !!
Used to be good, terrible people, terrible service, terrible.
I ordered ahead of time to get food between classes. My sandwich wasn’t ready on time and took another ten minutes (I had to go up and ask again). After hurrying to my class and being late, my sandwich was wet but still tasted okay. Overall I wouldn’t be that mad if it wasn’t really expensive on top of everything. Idk how they survive in a college town with $12+ mid sandwiches.

5/5 ⭐️⭐️⭐️⭐️⭐️ 3•17•25 For starters, the food is phenomenal! When we got our sandwiches, we were definitely not underwhelmed. They were huge! We did get the large version, but we weren’t expecting them to be so big lol. All of the ingredients were really fresh and full of flavor. The bread was perfect, too! Even the sandwich we got for our daughter was delicious; it was simple, but sue “inhaled” it lol. We also got the BbQ chicken chili which had great flavor, but it was more like a chili flavored soup. I dipped my leftover bread in it, so it worked out lol. When we ordered, we tried to do so online, but that was a pain. So, we called in and the customer service was excellent! The guy that took our order was very nice, patient, and informative, which was very appreciated since we had just had issues with the website lol. We ordered for pickup and our food was placed nicely in the bags and nothing was spilling or overflowing onto anything else. Overall, the inside of the restaurant was great, even though we didn’t dine in. It looked quite clean and was pretty relaxing. Staff were really nice in person as well. • The Greek Sandwich - added turkey • Reuben Sandwich - added red onion - added pickles • Create Your Own Basic Sandwich - turkey - provolone cheese - lettuce - black olives - mayo - mustard - white bread • Cup of BBQ Chicken Chili Pics in comments👇🏻

I’ve tried west street deli three separate times over the past couple years because I live pretty close & love to support local businesses. Unfortunately every time the sandwich and sides are very disappointing. $30 for two sandwiches and two sides is pretty expensive to be so sad after getting home and trying it. The potato salad had absolutely no flavor, my boyfriend’s buffalo sandwich was flavorless and not spicy whatsoever and everything was just overall dry & lacking flavor. I love deli sandwiches so I really didn’t want to give up but this cute little deli has left me disappointed every time :( I rarely leave reviews but to be so honest save your money and buy sandwich ingredients at hyvee
I got the Cajun version of a cordon bleu in "large" size. What a sandwich! It was huge and quite good! I gave it a 4 because it was surprisingly bland. Yes, it was Iowa-cajun -- I get it. But, it had the Andouille sausage, the jalapenos, and sauce! Could have been better...but it was good with great service!
