What an amazing and friendly cafe in Anita, IA. It must be the epicenter for Anita. The customers were even friendly. I searched for breakfast places, as I was driving on I-80, and Google Maps led me here. The irony is that I was in Iowa storm chasing, and I ate at a place called The Weather Vane. Please stop here on your travels. There's some local Jesse James history near-by too.

Was in need of a place to eat as we were heading back to WI. Wanted a hole in the wall type place since what's always advertised on the highway is the same plain Jane places. Came here and was NOT disappointed. Husband had the country skillet and I had the veggie (both with rye toast). One of the best skillets I have ever had. Filling and so well seasoned. Coffee was typical diner coffee but better than most so you'll be kept happy in my opinion. 10/10 recommend.

I seriously can’t rate this place higher. Weather Vane has been a regular stop for our family for years. Low prices, with a truly old fashioned quality of food you will not find at any chain restaurant, anywhere. Definitely worth the trip off the interstate for breakfast if you’re passing through, it feels like you’re stepping back into grandma’s kitchen.

VERY VERY EXPENSIVE FOR WHAT IT IS. $3 for a can of pop w/o free refills??? Got the $15 steak sandwich. Extremely chewy. And another $6 for a side of tots. So a single meal not filling me for $24. Outrageous. I'm all for supporting small business but this is ridiculous. Tots were the only good thing but they gave me 10 tots.

The breakfast here is excellent, as is the service. The locals are friendly, as well. It's a great place to stop on a road trip.

Anita, Iowa is hiding this gem and rightfully so.Love the atmosphere, like time travel to a time when eating out was special.Breakfast was amazing and the server should be cloned. And did you see the size of that sausage patty!!Well worth the short jaunt off I-80.

My daughter and I went here for breakfast. The kid had birthday cake pancakes and I had the meat and cheese omelet. It was so filling I couldn’t finish. We also took a blueberry muffin and a cinnamon roll to go for breakfast the next morning. Very delicious. Friendly staff. Easy to find. Parking right in front. They are open for breakfast and lunch.

Great food, great service, reasonably priced. Nice and clean, in a quaint little town set back in time. Well worth the 3 mile drive off of the I-80 exit.

We LOVED our high school waitress, Faith! She kept our table laughing & she provided great service. She's such a sweetheart! She knew every customer by name & she seemed very personable and genuine.

This restaurant is in my hometown. I worked here in HS! The service is always warm and friendly, the food is great, prices are fair, decor is charming, and it's lovely to hear all the townspeople greet each other with an authentic "hello" and "how are you?"! Worth a stop. Every time! :)
