Light and fluffy .. a yummy bite. You can have a donut filled with a filling of your choice. Plus the cronut donut is awesome! 20 minutes off my path... so worth it

Stopped in on a Sunday morning and the place was clearly popular as the line almost went out the door. The staff kept things moving and were friendly the whole time. Bonus feature: they’ll fill any donut with your choice of cream, custard, raspberry, strawberry, or lemon filling while you wait. Everything I got was soft and fresh. I didn’t get one this time, but I’ve got my eye on the maple bacon long john for next visit. Looking forward to going back.

Best donuts in the Midwest. We are donut snobs and eat them everywhere we go and these are by far the best combination of flavor and texture. There is a perfect mix sweet softness and crust.

These are, hands down, the best doughnuts I have ever tried. I'm fat, I cooked professionally for 20+ years, and I've lived in four states. It's safe to say I've tried quite a few doughnuts in my life. I've even made a few myself. However, every single doughnut I've tried at Ambrosia has been arguably the best in its class. Their glazed yeast doughnuts, cronuts, different cake doughnuts- all of them are the best. They will even custom fill long Johns with your filling of choice to order.

Here's the thing, they aren't relying on excessive toppings or crazy combinations- no maple bacon voodoo nonsense. They don't need the Hurts Donut schtick. Just perfectly executed, simply fried and garnished, normal doughnuts done right every time. It takes some skill to cook something as simple as sugar-glazed fried yeast dough and make it shockingly good every time.

The quality of ingredients are evident. There is no unpleasant film left on the roof of your mouth from the cheap shortening other doughnut chains use (looking at you, Dunkin). No need for crazy embellishments other than a little maple or chocolate glaze, maybe some sprinkles for the kids, perhaps pumpkin in the cake doughnut batter for the Fall. They just do it right. Get a cronut while you're there. If you don't agree with me that it's the best, I'll bet it's in your top three.

Ankeny's BEST donut shop, a combination of excellent baked good, great customer service, and a warm vibe inside. Their apple fritters are simply amazing! Coke and Pepsi products available if you're not a coffee drinker. Multiple tables.

Donuts are too saturated in oil and have given us stomach aches. There are better options around.
