Ankeny Diner Reviews
food was great as always, but the restaurant was dirty. The bus cart looks like it's never been cleaned. The waitresses were dressed so inappropriately (tight short shorts and tank top). Too much makeup and jewelry. Hostess only said 2 words, no smile, no thank you. Hallway entrance was disgusting and my sandals stuck to the floor. The last complaint - what's with the silver vent tubing openly seen in the restaurant.
We've been coming to the diner for 20 years. However we are very unhappy now that you removed breakfast and I was told it was a done deal. We know lots of people who are unhappy. There is no reason for this. You've always been a place to get breakfast anytime. Your hamburgers and tenderloins are good. However you never update your menu. You need better salads more non meals like baked pasta and wraps. This is not 2003. It's almost 2025. Get some in there who can run...read full review
5:45 Tuesday evening called 4 times and no answer to the number 515-964-7851. They do not have a website anymore and the one listed takes to the Port in Panorama. Are they even in business anymore?

Ankeny Diner is a genuine cafe serving Midwest classics in a warm atmosphere. The staff is friendly and attentive, making it a favorite stop in Ankeny. Visitors often feel comfortable and familiar, as if they are in a place with a homey vibe. The menu offers a good selection, featuring awesome and reasonably priced food. Popular dishes like the chicken fried steak special, patty melt burger and fries, or hearty breakfast options such as two eggs with bacon and hashbrowns or omelets can be enjoyed. While the ambiance has a very old school feel, minor updates like new flooring and paint have made it brighter and cleaner. The long-standing staff seem to really enjoy their work, which adds to the overall experience. Although the diner can get busy, especially on Sundays, and seating may be staggered at times, the overall dining experience remains pleasant. Overall, Ankeny Diner offers a cozy, friendly place to enjoy Midwest classics, making it worth returning to for more.
