Man was this a treat. Food, service and atmosphere were spot on. My husband and I are kinda snobby when it comes to our eggs benedict and biscuits and gravy - these guys sure did deliver!!! My husband got 1/2 and order (2 biscuits with gravy) and said it was going to be to much. He did order scrambled eggs and 2 slices of marble rye toast as well. He ate it all!! I am the eggs benedict snob - they were some of the best I have had in a very very long time. The eggs were poached to perfection and the sauce was absolutely amazing. I did do hashbrowns with cheese - I was a little bummed it had shredded cheese as I prefer sliced. They were scrumptious. We will definitely go back.

Great food and great service! A wonderful local restaurant. Try the waffle, you won’t regret it!

I try it every 5 years and it always is just average at best. Super slow service. See you in 5 years again

I don't review often. Most reviews here are my wife. I'm making an exception for Ankeny Diner. It's a diner. Not much to say about that. It felt comfortable and familiar. Like a place my mom would have worked at. I had the chicken fried steak special. It was only 12 bucks. I don't have teeth. I was able to chew the steak with my tongue and the roof of my mouth. Impossibly tender. I'll be back.

Our dining experience here was extremely disappointing. The staff were rude and unprofessional, and the service was shockingly poor. We were ignored for long periods, had trouble getting basic requests met, and felt unwelcome throughout our visit. Unfortunately, this level of service completely overshadowed the meal, and I would not recommend this restaurant.

First time here, is challenging to get in the place. Part of a hotel addition and signs are not helpful.
Tried the taco salad, not bad. Veggies are fresh and crispy. Bowl/shell light and flaky. Used chili for the taco part. Bland but nothing Tabasco doesn't help
Fish dinner was average and plate held all the excess grease just fine.
Server is amazing and made the meal experience better.
Pool + chlorine overpowered the night. Probably our last visit.

10 min wait turned into 40.
Waited over 30 min for food to come out.
A diner that only serves breakfast in the morning, isn't filling the role of a diner.

It had been a while since we’ve been there. Noticed a minor update (flooring and paint maybe) which was needed and looked good. Brighter/cleaner! Food was great as always. Service was terrific!
