Ankeny Diner is a reproduction of a diner attached to the Wyndham hotel. The interior has a lot of chrome, neon, and Naugahyde that gives it a movie diner feel. It was very clean and shiny. The menu had standard comfort food: burgers, salads, cold and hot sandwiches, and a lot of desserts. I enjoyed the chicken-fried steak with mashed potatoes and corn. My wife had a veggie burger, which was satisfying, although not as yummy as some restaurants.

Every town has a lil dinner that treats you nice, a goto after a wild night. Or a breakfast splurge with company from out of town. Ankeny dinner is a comfortable place.
Food was good and portion size was very large. Service was quick and friendly. Menu was extensive and everyone should find something they like to order. Prices are reasonable as well.

Nice kind of hidddn gem in Ankeny. Attached to hotel by the highway. Good menu selection for all meals. Breakfast is delicious , skillets are hearty and filling. Have steaks and salmon on the menu! Interior is unique , and has a small bar as well Shakes and malts ! One of the better breakfast spots in Ankeny for sure!

We left almost all our food on our plate. The chili was so spicy that it was inedible. We donāt mind some spice but that was the only flavor it hadā¦just spicy. The BLT had ātoastedā bread that was basically stale bread. The bacon tasted rancid. The only flavor was the rancid taste. The salad was the only good part. It is a shame. We were exploring Ankeny and had hoped for a new favorite restaurant. I would give no stars if I could. Waitress was fair.
