We’ve ordered take out and they always forget something and my tortillas for my tacos are either not cooked or so soggy they fall apart. We’ve dined at the restaurant and server kept forgetting our order. I would say pass on eating here or ordering takeout.

I stopped in and had a late lunch. I had the honor of meeting the two owners. They are brothers. They greeted me at the door and we were very friendly. I felt like they were Very professional I will say that the hospitality Was priceless. I also want to mention the bathroom. The bathrooms are very nice and clean. The food was honestly the best Mexican food I’ve had in any restaurant everything looked fresh and everything was delicious if you’re having a birthday party or celebrating with your family or if you’re looking for a good Mexican restaurant, I would strongly recommend this restaurant!

I am picky about Mexican and I love this place! The restaurant is clean and cozy. The staff are inviting and friendly. Service was good and the food was great! Huge portions. You can definitely share. Great place to spend time catching up with a friend or sweetheart. I highly recommend Hernandez Mexican Bar and Grill.

This is a great place with excellent margaritas, food and service.

If you haven’t tried this place, this is your sign to go and enjoy the food, the friendly and awesome staff and of course the drinks! My little family have become regular visitors and we enjoy it the moment we walk in with our kiddo. We are greeted and seated. Our waiters have a blast interacting with our toddler and are very accommodating. 11/10 would recommend to anyone to check this restaurant out.

They recommended me this restaurant for their good food. I went to try the food last friday but they disappointed me and my food took more than 40 minutes and the rice,beans and the fajita didn't have any flavor. They wanted to award their error with how the food tasted and how long they took for the food with an ice cream and shot of tequila. I also saw alot of people leave because their food took so long. Also i saw a short waiter looked so stressed I think he needs therapy. I wouldnt recommended this restaurant in ankeny,its the worst mexican restaurant.

Bad experience with online ordering. Order was all incorrect. An rude employees on picking up food won't come back lost business for sure

Miguel was our server today, and the service was GREAT. Every one of their staff works together to provide extremely prompt service and gives that extra bit of hospitality that makes for such a warm environment. There are a lot of mexican places in ames where we live, but we will continue to make the drive to hernandez in Ankeny!

Great variety of Mexican dishes. Reasonably priced. Very flavorful and exceptional customer service. If ever back in the area, we will be back! Wish we had 1 in STL.
