We chose to check out in a lane that had a first day cashier. The girl bagging the groceries was very helpful to him and us. He accidentally double charged us and the girl took it upon herself to get the approval from management to get it deducted and get us going to keep the line moving!!! Very impressed!! Thank you to the two working isle 5 today!! You are what Hy-Vee is supposed to be!!!

Love our HyVee. Stopped in for a quick dinner with the kids last night and the food was delicious and the staff was wonderful! Kids eat free the whole month of September in case you didn’t know. It was my daughters birthday and the Bartender found a birthday candle to put in her cupcake shake from walhbugers. The food was delicious. The market girl checker also gave our birthday girl a special treat. She loved the attention! Thank you!

I worked with Lori in the floral department to select wedding flowers; center pieces, bouquets, boutonnieres, corsages. I didn't really know what I wanted or what options I had, but she patiently walked me thru each step. She confirmed the order and delivered the beautiful flowers, making it the least stressful part of the day. Thank you!

The Hy-Vee at Prairie Trail-Ankeny made the cakes for our wedding on 9-6-20. The process was super easy with them. We were able to do a tasting, they delivered the cakes to our venue, and the cakes were very reasonably priced compared to a lot of other bakeries in the area. The cakes were all delicious as well. We also had a fancier tiered cake, which they created perfectly per our requests. We also had them put our fake flowers on the cake for us, at no extra charge. We will be back for other cake orders in the future! Thank you!

Sara V made the cakes for our son’s wedding last weekend. She was awesome to work with. The cakes were reasonably priced, delicious and nicely decorated. We received a lot of compliments about them.

Food was above average but to me a limited menu. Lots of choices but nothing I thought that stood out that "I gotta try that!". Ordered a cheese burger with the bleu cheese and was very good, not great. Side of coleslaw was way too runny in my opinion. Time between ordering and getting food was a little long considering it was middle of the afternoon (late lunch/early supper) and there was maybe 2 other tables. Waitress was outstanding and some of the other help (manager?) stopped by and asked how things were. Extra dot for this.

The service is always bad, and the wait time is horrible!!! It should take a waiter/waitress 30 sec to greet a table and appetizers should be served 6 min after ordering. Meals should arrive no more than 12 min after ordering. I have never had this ding if service...ever. I’ve waited over 30 minutes for a simple meal multiple tomes, it’s unreal.
We had visited this establishment several times in the past, all good experiences. However, this time to our surprise the Sunday Buffet had been discontinued. So we ordered from menu. Bad move, we should have just left. Took for ever to get waited on and even longer to get our food. When the food finally came some was cold, some were wrong. We did complain and really the only good thing was we did not have to pay. One example was the adult grilled cheese sandwich which came out with the bread toasted but the cheese not malted and still cold. Basically it was a cold club sandwich on toast. Extremely disappointed!

This HyVee store is the larger of the two in Ankeny and has a much larger selection of product on the shelves. The staff is always friendly and helpful. There is a restaurant attached and they also have food selections you can buy and take home.
