Ordered a champagne birthday cake from them. The cake was all frosting and hardly any cake. It tasted nothing like the champagne cake I use to order. It was super dry and thin topped off with super sweet frosting. I will never order a cake from them again!

I know times are tough as far as finding workers. But good lord. I go to Hy-Vee for two things - the meat and deli counter. That kid they recently hired for the meat counter reminds me of Jeff Spiccoli from Fast Times at Ridgemont High. "I need three New York Strips." The kid: "uhhhh, what?? Ummm, uhhh..." Another new kid in that department is incredibly rude. The one older gentleman who's worked there for a while is always who I'm hoping is there. I ask for a pound of smoked turkey at the deli. Two of the guys who work there know me and know exactly what I want. Always a pleasure. The two new kids - one spent nearly two minutes trying to put the meat inside the bag before the other guy had to come help him. The other new kid, instead of placing the wax paper on the scale, weighing the meat, then placing it in the bag, just grabs the meat and places it directly in the bag. And god forbid, don't ask them about the specials advertised upfront or in coupons. That will confuse them beyond repair. Fareway is a lot further away. But it's getting to the point that, for my own sanity, I may have to take the longer drive.

The pharmacy is so unorganized and takes close to an hour to fill prescriptions.

We chose to check out in a lane that had a first day cashier. The girl bagging the groceries was very helpful to him and us. He accidentally double charged us and the girl took it upon herself to get the approval from management to get it deducted and get us going to keep the line moving!!! Very impressed!! Thank you to the two working isle 5 today!! You are what Hy-Vee is supposed to be!!!

Every time I have ordered food at their hot food area I have been satisfied with the hot products and the cold products. I have asked them a couple times to add more or just ask for the hot items without sides. They have accommodated all my requests with a smile. I just want to thank them for going out of their way to please a customer. I would recommend them to anyone that needs a quick meal with enough varieties to please you and your family

This grocery store is Amazing. Huge selection, they have it ALL, The butcher dept has a great selection of ready to cook (cut, seasoned / stuffed) pork chops, chicken breasts, twice-baked potatoes, stuffed mushroom caps, stuffed peppers and much more, they have it all !!! Great prices too !!! Clean store & very nice staff. I'll be going there exclusively for the next 4 months while I'm here in town. Joe Sal Chicago IL.

Do NOT go here for a flu vaccine. The women they have giving them are untrained and spiteful. I've never had a shot administered the way one was given here. The nurse held it in her fist and jabbed hard. I'm afraid I might have shoulder complications now, and if I do I will be suing. Great job hyvee.

Love our HyVee. Stopped in for a quick dinner with the kids last night and the food was delicious and the staff was wonderful! Kids eat free the whole month of September in case you didn’t know. It was my daughters birthday and the Bartender found a birthday candle to put in her cupcake shake from walhbugers. The food was delicious. The market girl checker also gave our birthday girl a special treat. She loved the attention! Thank you!

The meat department here is the only saving grace, as long as the in store picker isn't in front of you shopping for someone too lazy to come into the store to do their own shopping! I find it annoying and poor customer service that they don't prioritize customers that are in the store over people who order online! But I have to wait behind a Hy-Vee employee picking an order for 10 people and sometimes that takes a long time. And no, they never say, "oh, it's just you and you only need one thing, go ahead!" Nope, it's always, "let me fulfill these 10 orders with extremely intricate details before I get out of your way, thanks for coming into the store during a pandemic though!" But that's about the temperature of customer service around the rest of the store anyway. Ever before the pandemic. I really only shop there for fuel saver points, but the last few times I spent over $150 and didn't get 1 cent in fuel saver rewards has really made me want to save money and take my business elsewhere. Just maybe come in and hold my breath and wait in line for the meat department. Next time I'm in there I'll take a picture, it never fails that when I'm there to get meat I have to wait behind the aisles online order picker!

Any time I'm in Ankeny, I try to pick up groceries at this Hy-Vee. It is always clean, stocked well, and the employees are polite. The wine and spirits section has a good choice of everything that you could want, especially seltzers. This is one of the Hy-Vees that seem to have gone towards expanding their offerings, but hasn't hit the levels other have with nail salons and shoe stores, for which I'm very thankful. I don't need it to be a "one stop shop". Focus on what you supply and supply it well and that's what I want.

I worked with Lori in the floral department to select wedding flowers; center pieces, bouquets, boutonnieres, corsages. I didn't really know what I wanted or what options I had, but she patiently walked me thru each step. She confirmed the order and delivered the beautiful flowers, making it the least stressful part of the day. Thank you!

1.) Their morning checkout is truly awful. Twice I've left groceries at the front and left because there was one line open with at least 4-5 carts in line. Both times it was a Sunday. 2.) I tried Aisles On Line for the first (and now last) time. I only had 10 items. They were out of the bread, out of the rice cakes, and out of the Powerade. How does that even happen? I just moved here from Waukee and evidently I was spoiled by a good HyVee. This one is SO close to me that it should be convenient, but it's been nothing but a pain. Back to Aldi I go. Please get it together folks, you've got a huge beautiful store, with a great location, but you have NO idea how to run it - none.

Missed out on breakfast at the hotel I was staying at so ran here for a donut to start the day. The store seemed clean and lots of checkers available. Walked through the Wine and Spirits. Seems like the seltzers have officially taken over. They also had a growler and crowler station behind check out for beer-to-go. The donuts were good but seemed a little expensive ($1.50 for fried cinnamon rolls or apple fritters). All in all a good experience.

Really bad, I know it's a add-on to a grocery store, but at least try. Waited for 50 minutes to get food the was probably put into a microwave (hot plates, cold food). For that bad service and terrible food, we should've gotten it comped, but we didn't. (Bunch of morons!!)
