The only good thing about the meal was the queso. Steep prices though... We paid $50 for 2 people (includes 2 entrees and the queso dip). The chicken was not good, the texture was off and not much flavor. Same with the ground beef, not much flavor. I probably wouldn't eat here again

Quick service! Great food! The tequila and margarita selection is unmatched! Highly recommend if you're in the area and looking for good Mexican food! The only downside is location. Delaware Ave is becoming way too busy for the population of Ankeny. Will be back again for sure, though!

Me and my mom went for Mother’s Day. The food was really good and the service too. The only thing was they were a bit slow as the place got more people.

La Cava Mexican Gastrobar: Delicious Food, Fast Service, Great Margaritas!Five stars for La Cava Mexican Gastrobar in Ankeny! The service was fantastic - friendly and attentive. We tried the pitcher of margarita texana and it was perfect - refreshing and flavorful. The food came out super fast and everything was fresh. We had the chicken chimichanga and the burritos deluxe, and both were amazing. The flavors were spot on, and for those who like it hot, their extra hot sauce is the real deal! This place has quickly become our new favorite spot for Mexican food in Ankeny. We'll definitely be back to try more dishes!

Amazing!!!Ended up here by accident when we tried going next door to EggBistro (which is also exceptional) but found out they were closed on Mondays. Lucky for us this place was open because what a happy accident it turned out to be to add to my list. The house chips served ahead of time at the table with salsa are unbelievable, and I'm not too big on eating chips ahead of my meals but these got me for sure. With that, I ended up ordering the Nacho Fajitas. These were hands down the best nachos I've had anywhere at a restaurant here around Iowa. They even do compete pretty well with some top authentic Mexican restaurants I've eaten at in the Dallas area as well. The sides, such as guacamole and queso are huge, even the small orders, and they are reasonably priced. Not to mention the queso is super thick and absolutely delicious. The only complaint I had about the place was they don't have Sprite or 7-Up, so I ended up getting a lemonade which was great, and I'm very picky when it comes to that as well.

Food is all frozen food and you can tell by taste. Drinks do not have prices so be careful what you order. Pictures on menu are different from what you get. I’m sure to not eat here again. Better places around with more reasonable prices and fresher food. They also charge for hotter salsa, lol.

We went the last two Fridays, the first time I had the Tamales Chilango an my husband had one of the combination plates, food was delicious, some best Tamales I've had an my husband said everything on his plate was delicious as well. The service was great. The second time my husband had the Fried Mojarra with shrimp, our friend had the Chile Colorado an I had the Lunch Special #20 an 2 Asada Tacos. The tacos were delicious the meat was juicy an tender with good flavor. The burrito in my special was supposed to be chicken, I got it an it was ground beef, It was ok, kinda salty. I told the waitress it was supposed to be be chicken, she said no but then went an looked at the menu an came back an apologized. She then went into the kitchen came back out an asked if I wanted to send it back an get the right one but by then the guys were already well into their meals an I didn't want to wait an then have them sitting there waiting on me. Overall it's a pretty great place an I'll definitely be back, just hope getting the wrong order was a one time deal.

We Came in right after they opened the new business and the service was horrible we waited over 20 minutes and still hadn’t gotten our drinks but we figured it was a brand new place and they were trying to get everything in orderSo we decided to give the place another try since they’ve been open a while nowService was still slow and food was mediocre at best the worst part is that we ordered two margaritas one large and one only came in one size we were charged 47.00 for the large margarita which had almost no alcohol and made with premixWill definitely not return.

Horrible service. Waited at the door for 8 to 10 minutes. Got sat down. Waited another 15 minutes with no one coming over, got up and left.
