Pho 85 has some of the best pho in Ankeny! The broth is light yet full of flavor, and the ingredients are always fresh. The spring rolls and dipping sauce are also excellent. Friendly service and quick turnaround make it an easy choice for lunch or dinner.

I am craving Pho. I know that this is the best place in Ankeny for me to kill the craving. Last time I was here I walked in on an early evening and got the last table available. Greeted warmly by a young man who sat us. Another young lady came and got our drink orders. Tvs are on at both ends of the small restaurant but not turned up. Music plays from the overhead speakers.
I ordered us the shrimp spring rolls. I just love soaking them in the peanut sauce that comes with them. I ordered the small well done brisket and tendon. Yum. Pho comes with a plate of basil leaves, jalapeños and, bean spouts to add to your broth as you want. It comes out hot and delicious. Hubby got the chicken pad tai. He liked it.
I got to take some of my soup home with me to have later. I really enjoy this little place. Lots of people walking in for pick up too. All great signs of a good place to eat.

Love this place. Great service and great food every single time.
We were in the area shopping and decided to stop in. I had heard of this place before and it was highly recommended by Vietnamese co-workers as being authentic. They weren't wrong! The food came out so fast, and yes, it reminded me of my mom's cooking. The phô had beautiful, savory broth. Some places do too much star anise or cinnamon but here, it was just right 👌🏼The prices are super cheap and the portions are huge--typical Viet fashion. I was so excited about the food I forgot to take pictures.

Pho broth was good. The lo mien tasted awesome! But the service sucks. The lady who took our order was rushing us to ordering. We never been there. It was our first time. Wasn't nice at all. When we were done, the little boy gaved our billed and to go boxes as we asked for. Put $10 tip on the table, took the bill over, paid with cash and told the lady that she can give the change to the little boy. Behind me, she put up $3 in the air, waved it and said just $3 to her worker. I turned and said to her that, that can be given to the little boy. I guess $3 didn't satisfy her giving it to that boy, so I took my $15 tip back and left with no tip on the table for their service. Worst experience ever just because $3 tip wasn't good enough for that boy to bring my bill and 1 togo box. Will not be a returning customer!
