The Other Place Ankeny

Ankeny is known for the worst restaurants and this one helps that rumor stay relevant. I don’t like leaving bad reviews but this place is worth not visiting if you can avoid it

First off our waiter was nice and tried to fix the situation that was out of his hand. We traveled 3.5 hours and decided they weren't busy and we could eat and make our appointment on time... Wrong. We took a bit of time ordering but after we ordered it took over 45 minutes to get our food. Mind you only three tables ordered food and the rest were empty. After we finished our drinks we decided we couldn't wait any longer; boyfriend - burger/fries, son - burger/fries, me - lasagna/salad. After getting up to pay the bill and leave they finally gave my boyfriend the food when he was trying to pay... a whole hour later. They had it ready to go. Okay, cool. Except when I opened the bag; one burger had a boatload of fries and the other had not even half of what the other had. No salad. But my lasagna was sitting around for a while because it was disgusting and it was like chewing a rubber band. So I made him turn around and I decided to go in. They agreed that they messed up and it wasn't acceptable. They offered to give a refund of some of the bill and I accepted. Yeah, they lied and never did. They have staff standing around joking in the kitchen but can't serve or cook food. One guy is taking drinks and orders... but the girls get to mess around. Cedar Falls never had this issue. I was told not to eat there and amazingly enough, a customer said she was giving it a chance even though her daughter has had issues with her past few orders and will never eat there again. Lesson learned. Pictured below is the box with the lesser amount of fries. My son's box was overflowing. *They did give me my salad and a box of fries after I went in and showed them what they did wrong.
Would I recommend? No, never.

Waitress was awesome it was the worst Hot Beef Sandwich I've ever had. My wife had a tenderloin she said it was good.

This pizza looks to be somewhere between Red Barron and Papa John’s. It’s the kind of pizza that folks who have never once eaten good pizza think is…okay. It’s pizza for people who dip pizza in ranch. Service? Meh. Ambiance. Low end.

All around enjoyable place to go and eat! I had the Maui pizza, my wife got the Philly cheesesteak pizza, and our friends shared the buffalo chicken pizza. All 3 types were great! I wish the crust had some sort of garlic butter glaze or seasoning. The 9” pizza was enough to feed 2, the 12” we could have fed 3 and possibly a not so hungry 4th person. Paired with my pizza I ordered the mulberry mule; it was not very flavorful, but wasn’t terrible. The server was friendly and professional. She checked on us often.

The pizza did take a while to come out, I understand it is made fresh however, if it was a full house I could only imagine the wait time. I suggest turning on another stove if they have one during dinner service.

Overall great experience and will definitely go back!

I've had pizza here before and it was good in the past. Stopped by yesterday and stood at the counter 5 to 10 minutes watching people clear tables and they look over at me but no one came over until it was time to seat the other group ahead of me. Still didn't acknowledge me until they came back after seating first group. It would have been nice to have someone say hey, we'll be right with you. Also this was around 1:30 & the place wasn't busy. Server was nice and took my order. Pizza looked good and after I ate a couple of bites I noticed the sausage seemed barely warm so I started pulling some pieces off and noticed it was pinkish. Server stopped by and I asked her if they precook the sausage and showed her the pieces on my plate. I told her I'm not eating the sausage because some of it looks pink. She said I'll go find out. Came back and said yes its cooked ahead of time and turned and left. At best some pieces were cooked through but not warm. At worst some pieces were pink and cold. Anyway I pulled the sausage off and ate a couple of pieces that way. She stopped by and asked if I needed anything else and I said I would take the check. She dropped the check quickly and never asked if I wanted a box for the half of a pizza I still had. Overall it was disappointing and I felt ignored and the pizza was subpar food. OP has a great atmosphere and lots of tvs to watch the games but this trip I gotta give a thumbs down.

if I were you, I would not order takeout. I have not ever eaten in, but it shouldn’t take an hour and a half for one small cheese pizza I could make a piece scratch at my own place of resident and I shouldn’t be told that my weight is going to be 10 more minutes after waiting 20 minutes but that 10 minute wait turns into another 20 minute wait so I waited 40 minutes. The order was placed 20 minutes prior an hour for the pizza I ended up canceling the order because I guess the cheese sticks were still in the oven I mean it’s a Sunday night let’s be so for really was not that busy and then the fact I’m taking over an hour for a cheese pizza is beyond me. I will never eat here again I will. I don’t recommend you do either. I should not take that long. I could make it faster in my house and that’s crazy.

Food is average and we hit at a Saturday lunch. A normal Saturday would have been fine but moved a bit slow since we were on a work lunch. Did worse probably my fault for getting a sandwich at a pizza place.

Wheelchair accessibility: No steps at main entrance though there is 2 doors to enter.

The kids' menu is great. We love the other food, too, but the options for the kids are hard to find. Great atmosphere, especially on GameDay.

Food was okay had a cajun chicken wrap. Waitress, let us know she was new, so we gave her the benefit of the doubt. Food was cold when she brought it out. I asked for buffalo sauce three times before she finally brought it.
We were working, so when we were ready to go. We asked for our check and it took another fifteen minutes to get it, as she didn't know where it was at.
I finally went up to the front and let them know we were working.So she brought us our check and three others and had to go through them to see which one was ours, then she went to another table and started having a conversation with them when we told her we needed to pay and leave, had to flag down someone else to get her to take our payment.
Definitely would not go back

We went there for our anniversary last sat and the wife finally told me that her meal was not the best she had the chicken Alfredo and only 3 little things of meat and was dry as a bone and the noodles was ok had no sauce on it really not worth it for the price they charge went there to celebrate something special and the food sucked idk if we ever go back unless they step up there game and this is why we don't ever go out to eat I can make way better at home and cheaper come on the other place

Our server Zeke was probably the beat server I have ever had. Food was amazing, had Cajun chicken cobb salad, my friend said her pizza was amazing. it was quiet as it's Monday but place was clean and I will definitely go back
