When we got there a large group had just ordered so we knew it might take awhile. There was 1 cook, 1 waitress, and 1 bartender who helped in both places. Not nearly enough help for a Friday night. Food arrived, tenderloins were overdone on the outside and not hot (good flavor though), French fries were cold. It took 45 minutes to get a to-go box and our bill after we were finished. There was another couple that came in and ordered shortly before we got our food and they were still sitting there waiting as we were leaving, probably an hour and a half after they sat down. This is very local to us and not our first unfortunate experience. I am surprised that there are not similar reviews as like I said this is not the first time this has happened. :(

Food was gr8. We had our 40th High-school reunion there. They prepared some delish appetizers. We then later ordered a surf and turf entree that was gr8! And of course, the beer was cold. Service was gr8!!

we found this place luck. Ate there on a Saturday evening the ribeye steaks where spot on for the way we ordered them. drinks where good too not overly expensive. Will definitely be back if in the area again soon. I'll give them a 10 out of 10.

The small town of Barnes City, Iowa is fortunate to have the continuance of both the Tavern and a restaurant. The bartenders are customer service oriented. Especially, during busy times and big events. It’s worth a stop if you are in the area. You can’t beat the food, prices or cold drinks.
