I am very disappointed in this food. el viego claims to be athentic Mexican food. Well its not. Ive had great Mexican food in CA and Mexico. I ordered 3 diffrent dishes at el viego. The chimichanga was very soggy. Not crisp at all. The rice and beans are just plain and average that you can get at any Mexican resteraunt across the USA. The chicken was sliced very thin , so was the steak. Much like a chip. But it also had zero flavor to it. No salt...no seasoning....at all. I can and do cook much better food than this place. But I wanted to try it. I was excited but I will never spend another dollar at this place.

A unique and quality spin on traditional Mexican food. The flavors you expect with a higher than average plate presentation. The portions are very generous, the price is still reasonable and the variety is excellent. They also have a lunch buffet which I have not tries yet but looks decent. I usually go with the Enchiladas or Burritos which have always been very good. The staff is extremely friendly, expeditious and happy to serve. The atmosphere (decor) sets it apart from other Mexican food restaurants in central Iowa. A very much reccomended place in my book.

We were here weekly before we moved to Waukee and now we make special trips when we are craving Mexican. This place never ever disappoints! The staff is extremely kind, respectful, and still remembers us when we come. The food is absolutely amazing, hot, never greasy, and comes out pretty fast. We highly recommend you try their Moscow mules too! We have been to countless places, but this one always stays #1!
