I had such a wonderful experience at Denny’s recently, and I want to take a moment to recognize someone who truly stood out—Assistant Manager Rachelle.
From the moment I arrived, Rachelle’s professionalism, kindness, and attention to detail were on full display. She greeted guests with a warm smile, made her team feel supported, and stepped in wherever she was needed—whether it was checking on tables, helping servers, or ensuring the dining room was spotless.

I don’t usually write reviews, but after my recent visit to Denny’s in Brooklyn, Iowa, I felt compelled to share what an outstanding experience we had. From the moment we walked in, it was clear that this wasn’t just another roadside stop—it was a well-run, welcoming, and genuinely special place, thanks to the amazing staff and leadership.
Let’s start with the ambiance. The restaurant was spotless—tables cleaned immediately, the floors shining, and everything felt fresh and inviting. That might sound like a small thing, but you’d be surprised how much it sets the tone for your entire meal. It shows the pride they take in their work.
Our server, Diane, was truly exceptional. She was warm, patient, and attentive without ever being overbearing. Diane greeted us with a genuine smile, made excellent menu suggestions, and checked in at just the right times. You could tell she really cares about her guests and wants everyone to leave happy and full. She even took a moment to chat with our kids and made sure they had everything they needed—it made us feel more like family than customers.
Then there’s Stephanie, the General Manager, who is clearly the heart of this restaurant. You can see her walking the floor, talking to guests, helping her team, and making sure every single detail is running smoothly. She leads by example, and her presence brings a sense of calm, control, and community to the restaurant. It’s not often that you see a manager so hands-on and so respected by both her team and the customers.
We also ordered the bourbon chicken, and wow—it was delicious! Cooked to perfection, packed with flavor, and served piping hot. Every item we ordered, from breakfast to dinner options, was spot-on. The food came out quickly, tasted fresh, and looked exactly like the photos (which is rare these days).
The teamwork between Diane and Stephanie was something to admire. You could tell this wasn’t just a job to them—it’s a place they care about, and it shows in everything from the customer service to the cleanliness to the quality of the food.

the first night Hailey was super tired but pleasant. I had the pot roast melt and there was paper under my cheese. Hailey did take it off our bill. The next day she seamed more energetic and my burnt end sandwich was wonderful. cooking time was slow both times but again Hailey was great.
