We were in Chariton yesterday running an errand and decided on this place for lunch. Great food!! Loved the onion rings, breaded tenderloin, fries, and sauces. Food was piping hot and fresh. The only negative about the food is they could have let the oil drain from the tenderloin a bit more, but that did not diminish how good it was really.

The service was awesome, I cannot remember the servers name, but she was pleasant and attentive to our needs. Great job!!!

This place is a steakhouse but they are constantly out of baked potatoes and they are out of their grinder sandwich by 6pm which is the special on Tuesday's evenings. When you call in a order to go you have to repeat yourself over and over because the girl taking your order won't go to a place or room where she can hear you. Then 50-75% of the time after getting home with your order they have either forgot something or given you the wrong sides. For as high priced as they are they should be able to get something right

Truly outstanding food and service. May I suggest the onion rings? In my life, I've never had them served so delectably! Go here. Eat. Try the rib eye. You'll thank yourself.

We stopped on the 4th of July while out riding motorcycles. The town had its 4th celebration going on. So it was very busy. They were able to sit us (8) in a timely manner. Due to being busy, the service was a little slow. The food was great.

I was saddened today when eating at the iron horse about its decline in the quality of its food. As the nicest place in Chariton I expect more. Today I had a chef salad, and having had a lot of chef salads in my life I know what I like and what I expect. Today the salad was lettuce and croutons a little turkey and ham and some horrible eggs ( I don't know how you can ruin a boiled egg) not one other vegetable that other than lettuce was in the salad no tomato No cucumber no onion no vegetables .truly the worst chef salad I have ever eaten... Get your act together because in these economic times people expect more when they spend money in a restaurant.

We were fishing for the day at nearby Lake Ellis. Looking for dinner when we got done. Didn't know what to expect but we were absolutely blown away. Service, food and atmosphere were absolutely top notch! And it wasn't overly expensive like places in Des Moines. We'll definitely be back.

I had the whiskey bourbon sirloin and it was excellent. Nice serving size and the side dishes were great. My wife had the salmon and it was light in flavorful. The corn chowder soup was outstanding!

Sat at the bar and had a nice glass of Pinot and a loaded baked potato. Both were good, and the service from Jenny, the bartender/waitress was wonderful.
