We recently visited Creston Iowa as we were camping at Green Valley state park. We looked at reviews for restaurants in the area and the reviews for Spencer's Chop House were not good. Complaints were made about service, quality of food, cleanliness of the restaurant, time waiting. etc. We elected to go to a different restaurant, but after talking with our neighbors in the campground who told us that they make a point of going to the chop house whenever they're in town we elected to give it a try. It was very good. Food was delicious, service fantastic, atmosphere/decor quaint and charming. We were very pleased and will return if we get back to town!!

Spencer’s Chophouse in Creston, Iowa serves one of the best burgers in the Midwest—the Mushroom & Swiss is unbeatable! Perfect seasoning, high-quality meat, and true Midwest hospitality. If you’re searching for the best restaurant in the Midwest, this is worth the drive!

I was less than pleased with my experience. Inattentive server, the food was mid, loud locals that had entirely too much to drink.

1 hour wait for meal. Didn't seem prepared. Cobwebs on light over table. It was just meh.

Was there on 6/13/25. Everything was A+, excellent. If you live in Creston there is no need to leave town for a steakhouse and if you don't, it's worth the drive.
Always delicious food super friendly staff.

If you like using a flash light to look at the menu then this is the place for you. They do have room for large groups. The food was tasteless and the picture shows my medium well prime rib after asking for it to be cooked longer still not cooked even close to medium well. The only reason there is as much gone is because the table all took bites to confirm that it was tasteless and far from tender. My husband's chicken did not have any flavor either. The baked potato was also over cooked and could have been better. The waitress who knew I wanted my prime rib to be more on the well side showed no concern even seeing that I chose not to eat a $26 piece of meat.

We were here for over two hours because it took an hour and a half to even get our food. They said they were short staffed but even with short staff I’ve never had to wait so long for food. Then when we got our food it was all awful. Like even my child’s French fries weren’t cooked all the way. Super disappointing since we waited so long and had heard good things.
