We went for my husband's birthday dinner before going to a show at the Civic Center and it was absolutely amazing! The staff and server we phenomenal and the food ever more!! We have found a new special occasion dinner location! Thank you for everything!

Great food, great service and perfect ambiance. Petite Fillet, 1lb Lobster, Caesar Salad with blue cheese dressing tossed. Truffle Fries for an appetizer with Belvedere Xtra dirty martini w/blue-cheese olives. Moscato, ice cream for desert w/hot fudge. Ready to go back soon!

One of the best meals I've eaten. The creamed corn is to die for. The hash browns is all you need to order but please order the prime rib. Yummmmm

Excellent service was able to pop in last minute and have a great dinner with my wife. Salad was fresh and crisp; steaks cooked to perfection. Belvedere Martini's up extra dirty! They know how to do it.

Went there for my birthday. The restaurant is very nice and fancy. The food was delicious and the crème brûlée was the best I’ve ever had. The staff were friendly and they made me feel very comfortable and special. I’ll definitely go back during my next trip to Des Moines.

Our experience began with a polite gentleman who asked our reservation name then politely had us wait to ensure our table was ready. He then seated us and our table was decorated with heart shaped confetti and our menus had Happy Anniversary at the top. Our server Michael was amazing! He congratulated us on our anniversary and asked how many years. He then mentioned that it must have been the nights for anniversary's, as he had multiple tables celebrating their anniversary. He was so attentive and made my husband and I feel as though we were the only couple in the restaurant. He mentioned speciality drinks and I inquired about wines. I mentioned my preference and he recommended a particular kind. I was willing to try it and ended up ordering a second glass. When it came time to order our meal, Michael explained the aging process of the steaks and was very knowledgeable about it. When we received our meal, our filets were cooked beautifully and our sides were just as we remembered from previous visits (delicious)!! When Micheal brought the dessert menu, my husband and I were looking forward to their cheesecake with raspberry sauce, to which Michael apologized and shared that it was a flavored variety of cheesecake. My husband and I declined on dessert or a dessert beverage. When Michael brought our bill, he also brought a complimentary dessert. It was Carrot cake!! My husband was all smiles. (It is one of his favorites!) When we were leaving the restaurant, we were greeted with a smile and a thank you for visiting and come back again. Overall, our service was amazing, our meal was superb, our entire experience was very memorable and will be back for another visit. Thank you to all of the 801 Chophouse Des Moines for a fantastic evening!! Well done!!

I was there before with the family and the service and food was on top. As a group I wouldn't advise anyone to go there. • Slow and inattentive staff • Orders took excessively long to arrive • Servers seemed overwhelmed and unorganized. Got the meal and the side came after we already had half of the meal . • Lack of communication regarding delays and issues . .Asked for hot water and I kept getting like warm water . When I asked the server why we can't have hot water .. he said they can't do anything about it ... ..
