My girlfriend and I stopped by twice, first visit they got our order all wrong, granted the food was good so we gave them another shot on our next visit we had to wait 40 mins for our order due to the fact they couldn't keep the orders straight and five customers that arrived after us received their orders ahead of us, and once again.the got our order completely wrong. This will be the last time we stop at this particular taco truck

Fast, flavorful, fresh. My partner and I had a little taco truck showdown date where we hit up four different spots on the east side and this one was our favorite! We will be back again to see how it holds up on our second showdown date.

Grew up on Taco trucks in California so you can trust me. The asada tacos are good but the meat is more brisket than asada. Not sure if that's an Iowa thing or not. Also they are $2.50 each. No more $1 tacos on Tuesday apparently.

Some of the best taco trucks I’ve gone to in Des Moines. Quick service. Great customer service. Outdoor seating.

Decided to give them a 2nd chance since it's the only truck that had lengua, 1st off, tacos where skimpy, 2. They did not know how to cook a language, you're supposed to take the language skin off n shred real fine. 3. Chorizo was just minced pork with no flavor. Will not be back ever again.

Stop in there tonight because it was my wife's birthday and she wanted street tacos I got a burrito and it is one of the nastiest burritos I've ever had I could have stopped at a gas station and got a better burrito it is one of the worst burritos I've ever had and for quotations authentic it is pitiful it is so soggy and falling apart that it is disgusting and inedible will not be stopping back and this was a weekly place in over the last couple of weeks it has gotten disgusting

worst meat ever! NEVER AGAIN please save your money this was such a waste I called twice to make an order no answer pulled up and workers were on the phone and no cars at all! Drove 30mins because this place was my go to for tacos come come and it was mostly fat instead of meat which I hate! 0/10

My son and I went to get tacos at our usual spot but they said they were closed. So we stumbled upon Alan's on the Eastside. And we are glad! Very good tacos, the carne burrito was so delicious. Well be back!
Maybe it was an off day, but 1st time trying, birria meat was in edible too many tough dry fibrous meat strands, girlfriend and my gums literally bleeding after one bite.... Total waste.

Alan’s Tacos, 1644 E. Grand Ave., Des Moines — During a Dec. 22/23 visit to this food truck, an inspector cited the establishment for 11 risk-factor violations, an unusually high number. Among the problems: The person in charge was not a certified food protection manager, and the person in charge was not fulfilling their duties as evidenced by the extent and significance of the violations related to time- and temperature-controlled foods. Also, the water heater had been disconnected, and so the handwashing sink could not produce hot water; the sink itself was not hooked up, which meant that employees could not wash their hands; bags of shredded cheese were measured at 46 to 49 degrees, well above the 41-degree maximum; and meat was measured at 52 degrees and hot dogs at 44 degrees. The inspector also reported that the three-compartment sink could not be used to immerse utensils and equipment in sanitizer; a vegetable dicer was stored on the floor and was visibly soiled; and salsas, cooked meats, and cooked tamales inside the reach-in cooler were not marked with their preparation dates. Also, ribbon-style fly traps were hanging above the food preparation area and were filled with multiple dead flying insects; a bag of onions was stored directly on the truck floor; and drainpipes from the handwashing sink were leaking wastewater once the sink was reconnected.Due to the lack of functioning refrigeration units, as well as the food truck’s inability to sanitize food-contact surfaces, Alan’s Tacos agreed to close and to contact the state for a reinspection prior to reopening. Three hours later, the inspector returned and determined the refrigeration unit and plumbing had been repaired, eliminating the imminent health hazard that existed earlier that afternoon, and the food truck was allowed to reopen.
