Amazing food! A super welcoming and hospitable/knowledgeable staff! Also it’s all gluten free! You can’t go wrong with anything in the menu. Chef Matt and his team are innovative with their dishes and do a great job with texture, flavor, spice and taste. This is a must place visit and then visit it a few more times. This is my wife and i’s favorite restaurant!

This is the best tasting food in Des Moines and has a very cool vibe. Every dish has such a balance of tastes and texture. I love the vegetarian options as well. Bring back that dessert taco bowl please.

Where do I even begin? First off, the staff is absolutely amazing. We were greeted by the super kind and friendly hostess, I didn’t get her name, but she was wearing a red cardigan. As soon as we walked in, she greeted us and we were seated. We had an excellent server named Dion (I hope I spelled her name correctly). Dion is full of energy, life, and made us feel right at home. She asked us questions and gave us recommendations and is absolutely hilarious! I don’t remember the names of every dish we had but it was all absolutely divine: amazing portions, awesome flavor and presentation, and Dion’s service and attention was great! I will definitely be returning next time I am in Iowa. Thank you Dion for making us feel right at home!!

WAY overpriced for the quality. Spent $90 on 4 tacos, 3 margaritas and queso, none of which was particularly good. It wasn't bad, but the tacos were cold (so were my buddys meatballs), the queso was some ok but not great, and the margs were kinda weak with a not great tequila. Service was ok I guess. Not quite bad enough for 1 star but definitely not going back
Excellent food, service and drinks! Everything here is GF and divine!!! Very celiac safe! We can’t wait to go back and try more of their awesome menu!
Had the Maine Lobster Empanada, the Scallops and Al Pastor Tacos. Everything was wonderful!
Dietary restrictions: Celiac. Gluten Free. Entire facility is GF! Big win for DSM!

Was looking for a place size we had the afternoon without the kids, found this through Google search and wasn't disappointed.
Had the chipotle chicken enchilada and it was one of the best dishes either of us have tried in a decent while. Partner had the Al Pastor tacos also were good, but not at the and level as the enchilada. Cocktails were also well paired. Pomegranate margarita was a seasonal special. We'll be back!

I choose this restaurant because I have celiacs disease. Their fully gluten free kitchen is amazing and hard to find in Des Moines. I’ve been 3 times since it has opened. But always multiple months between each visit because I am always let down after each visit. I wanted to give them more than just one chance to impress me. So now after 3 visits here is my review. The food is very thought out and beautiful presented. As a foodie this is huge and impressive to me. Obviously them having a fully gluten free kitchen is a huge win for me and I have never had any reactions. However, the portions are extremely small and over priced for what you get. The margarita quality has decreased since my first visit when they first opened. They seemed more fresh but now they seem more processed “mix like”. Overpriced as well for the size and quality of margarita. I am not sure if prices are based on gluten free ingredients or presentation styles. But I am continually let down. I ordered the scallops last night, $29 and came with 3 scallops. The last time I went, I went for happy hour hoping to still have a good gluten free experience but at a cheaper rate. The shrimp taco had 1 butterflied shrimp on the taco. So again small portions for prices. The cheese mushroom fundido is by far my favorite. I have gotten it every time. This time it was served in a different serving dish and much smaller portion than the last two times. Services is always great!

I am blown away by the food here. I walked in not expecting much, but wowwww. The grilled fish tacos were superb— the flavors/texture are one of the best I’ve had (and I’ve had a lot of tacos). Also, the value is crazy— i got the avocado tostada as the complimentary “side” to the taco. I wanted to get dessert, but couldn’t because I was full.
The bartender was very accommodating and provided a lot of information for me, a first time visitor.
Ambiance is great for casual eats as well as a cute date night.
The happy hour seems unreal — all tacos (2) are $7!!!!!

Amazing service, ambience, and food. Bar Nico is a short 1 minute walk from the hotel I was staying at (AC Hotel). From the minute we walked in, we were treated with kindness and excellent service. The wagyu beef (Campechano) tacos I had were literally the best tacos I have ever had. Check out their happy hour!!!
