Excellent food and atmosphere. Five sensational seasoned skillets out of five.

This was a great place to go with the family. However, the chicken dumplings are a little smaller than I thought, they are NOT the same kind from Cracker Barrel. Anywho it was awesome just wish there was more portions ?? proof it was awesome is in the photos

Food was overall good , we had the crab cakes and shrimp / crawfish fritters they were pretty good. Husband had the walleye which he loved along with Mac and cheese . I ordered the fried chicken and had the mashed potatoes, collards, and Mac n cheese . I will say I didn’t like the fried chicken it wasn’t flavorful at all like some of the other places I’ve been . We would definitely go back it was good.

Came for a late dinner, and the restaurant was not very busy. We ordered the deviled eggs sans bacon, chicken fried steak, and the mushroom pot pie. The deviled eggs were really nice (not outstanding. Maybe the bacon adds something) and I'm told that the chicken fried steak was delightful. The mushroom pot pie, though, was really lemony and acidic. I would not recommend it. Maybe the other vegetarian items are better, but I had higher expectations than usual for Bubba, and I left disappointed.
Our server was also very scarce near the end of the meal. I would have said something about my dish, but he never came back to ask. ?‍♀️
Overall, the experience was underwhelming.

Fun fact, if you catch a server by surprise their bow tie spins. Try it.

Not impressed at all. Ordered a mixed drink that was one of its"staples". It was horrible, like drinking bourbon straight from the barrel. Small menu with lots of vegetarian options. I am not one of them.

The food is amazing the best shrimp and grits I've ever had. Pimento mac and cheese was rich and wonderful great selection of cocktails and spirits. Unfortunately given the price range the service is always subpar. going to other expensive restaurants they always go above and beyond but seems the attitude here is that we are privileged to be able to eat there vs them being privileged to serve. Michelin star food but waffle house service

What kind of steak place doesn’t provide steak sauce?? Matter of fact, what kind of place has their waiters tell you to “our steak doesn’t need sauce” when it clearly does??

If you cherish the experience - do not waste your time. Food is amazing, service is horrible. 2 times i have been to Bubbas for a dinner with coworkers and the service has always been lackluster. Both times the staff has seemed bothered to have to wait on customers. Our server most recently was emotionless, did not introduce herself, never offered refills on ANY drinks (we had to ask after waiting for a long time), our dirty dishes sat on the table for what seemed like forever while we connected after dinner, no one asked how our food was - its a great thing we all loved our meals. As time got away from us, at 9:04 what appeared to be the manager on duty came up the stairs, made little eye contact, and said “have a good night.” He then took ONE empty glass off of our table. This equated to his way of stating “we closed 4 minutes ago, get out.” There are plenty of professional ways to address this, this was not one of them. Meanwhile, there was a table of people still eating their food on the lower level. The server’s lack of customer service all made sense when the manager on duty was just as dismissive and rude. It is unfortunate that the face of your food business is what drives people away from your food. After speaking with a group of friends last night, they had a similar experience less than a week ago.

Really, chic spot with southern food served elevated. The service was ok, I'm surprised the waitress did not make suggestions or initiate conversation. It was our 1st time there, and we kept having to ask about items or suggestions. Don't get me wrong, she was courteous but kinda felt like we were forcing the conversation. She did check in on us and kept our drinks topped off, but just know what you want or look at reviews prior.
Appetizers:
1 Bread basket. Biscuits were the best I had. I wanted to go slap the chef and get the recipe. It also comes with cornbread muffins. I enjoyed them. However, they were on the sweet side and more like corn cupcakes. They were served with a lovely strawberry jam and whipped honey butter.
2 Pimento cheese board. This was a random assortment of nibbles. I can't say they went together, but they were all good alone. Sypeisingly, I was not impressed by the pimento cheese, but my companion was raving about it. I'm not a big cheese person, so I'll take their word for it. My favorite was the pickled green beans, carrots, and cauliflower! There was also mustard w honey, candies, pecans, bread and butter pickles, creame cheese, something, and buttermilk crackers. The buttermilk crackers seemed like thin versions of the biscuits.
MAIN COURSE:
3 Chicken and dumplings. Not your traditional dumplings as the dough is rolled out and cut in strips about 3mm thick noodles. The broth was excellent and was served with a lovely salad.
4 Chicken and waffles. You must get as the chicken and waffles were fantastic!
Sadly, we were too stuffed for dessert, but overall, a must go spot in Des Moines.
